DD2 came home from nursery yesterday and said that she had been put in the quiet corner because she had broken the whiteboard. Fair enough i though so told her no treats today and she needs to be more careful at school, asked her to tell me what happened and she said she was playing a game on the whiteboard (linked up to a computer so they can play games) and put too many pillows on the bed and it broke. She said her teacher took her over to the quiet corner and told her to turn the timer over and stay there untill the sand ran out.

So she didnt brake the whiteboard she broke a bed in a game??? DD2 has never made up a story and never been in the quiet corner before so i thought i'd ask what happened when i went in today.

I said "oh *** was very upset yesterday as she broke the board and was put in the corner did someone fix it or does it need replacing?" teacher said she didnt know what i was talking about and asked another teacher and they just shrugged. As soon as i said about the quiet corner she said oh we wouldnt do that but ive seen them put naughty children in their before. It was the same teacher that dd said put her in there Confused

I know it's no biggie and should just forget about it but i know dd didnt make it up as she would have confused herself and the story was the same the whole time.

Oh yes - my children have told some absolute corkers and put on the whole act to go with it.

However the most convincing act was from DS2 when he was about 3urs old or so (maybe alittle younger?/). I was playing the organ at church, he was running up and down the (stone floored) aisle at the opposite side. I saw him fall over - but thought nothing of it - no tears from him, and the people running the creche went to him.

I looked up again to see a crowd of people surrounding him, and someone looking over to me very worried and beckoning me over. I rushed over and saw DS2 lying completely motionless on the floor - and one women (a student nurse as it happens) ready to call an ambulance.

I went closer to him and declared "he's fine"....

"no no" I was told "He's not moved since he fell over"

So I leant forward and tickled him, no response to start with, then very slowly I saw a slight smile in the corner of his mouth, then it grew, and then he opened his eyes and looked at me with a huge beam on his face

I picked him up and asked if he wanted to sit next to me on the organ - which he did for about 3 minutes before running off again.

That was years ago now - but I (and all the extremely worried congregation surrounding him) still remember it.

Litttle sod.

I teach English. During my first lesson in September with my new year 7 classes, I always get them to do the traditional "What I did in the Holidays" story, but I tell them that I get bored of reading about BBQs and trips to Wales, and ask them to make up a complete lie so that I can have more fun marking it. I get at least a couple who are abducted by Aliens. Kids' imaginations are fun!

My 3 yo sister wet herself at nursery, took her knickers off & hid them behind the toilet. When the teacher noticed she had no knickers on, she asked my sister where they were. "My mum doesnt let me wear knickers!". Luckily I was helping out at the nursery that day, and was able to convice them that she does indeed wear knickers and had left the house with some on!

My DD told meshe had to run laps around the football field for not finishing her work! She's 6 ffs!

A bit ofdetective wok uncovered that she had in fact not completed her work but the lap running was something the whole class had done as a way to wake them up on a dreary day...the teacher must have found th class were generlly sluggish and my DD decided it was all hr fault! Bless.
