Was just going through some old receipts from a couple of weeks ago and came across one from a buffet at an asian restaurant. There was the cost of my food and drinks, but then a charge at the bottom for 'small buffet' - £2.50 - which can only be for 9mo DD!

I know £2.50 isn't exactly breaking the bank, but she ate about two fistfuls of plain naan bread as I'd bought food along for her. I know it's my own fault really, I never even thought to check... Blush

Your last post wasn't there when I started mine.

I consider my posts friendly - you can consider them patronising if you want to

MadameDefarge · 27/02/2011 23:53

I give up. On this thread at least.

If you have googled me. great. My only photo is of my ds. can't see how that leads. anywhere.

My MN threads might lead somewhere, but I doubt most folk could be arsed.

I use my experience to comment on a thread, that's all.

Still, it would be nice to see you all! I promise not to glower or tut too loudly....

MadameDefarge · 28/02/2011 00:10

As to the rest of your suppositions, Chipping, you might think it's perfectly friendly, but it is not. I give another point of view, and suddenly I am miss bitter and twisted, and then you assume all sorts about how I support my ds and myself.

Just stick with the thread, eh?

MadameDefarge · 28/02/2011 00:21

Ah, Chipping, don't want to have a grumpy fight with you. I'm good, business it good, sometimes share downsides on here, that's all.

Probably more grumpy than usual cos DS got extreme dyspraxia diagnosis this week. good, but, really sad at the same time.

Male cats penis' are prickly so the female can't/won't take off till he's done. Grin

I have to disagree about there being something on the menu for infants or toddlers at any restaurant, but then again, as some of my friends have said, because of who my DH is, I'm very critical knowledgeable about food and have a hard time enjoying most restaurants knowing what I know about the food industry and my expectations based on cost. I certainly wouldn't eat at a buffet restaurant.

flyingspaghettimonster · 28/02/2011 05:10

Wow, I guess things have changed back in the UK. Over here in the States my kids have only just started being charges in buffets; the 7 year old gets charged a child's price and usually the 5 and 2 year old are free. Or if I only happen to have one of the older kids, I am still charged the same. I would be miffed to be charge 2.50 for an infant buffet, as I usually incorporate clean-up into my tip when out with the toddler, and he eats so little it wouldn't merit 2.50, but I guess some people serve their wee one a huge plate and it gets wasted, so the punish everyone with new fees :-(

cupofteaplease · 28/02/2011 06:44

At 9 months, I wouldn't have taken my own food and my dc would have eaten from the buffet. Therefore, I'd expect to be charged and would consider £2.50 to be a fair price. In your situation, I'm not sure. If the naan bread was from your plate, then I guess you shouldn't have been charged.

I can't decide if YABU!

PorcelinaOfTheVastOceans · 28/02/2011 09:33

oh, bleedin' heck, wasn't expecting all this! Confused

madamedefarge, i do understand where you're coming from :)
