To think that a forum...

Should be properly moderated and that the owner of the website the forum belongs to should care at least a little about it? Especially when it's a subscription forum that many people have paid for.

BMC was recently hacked, or so we were told by a moderator who advised us to change our passwords. Many of us were concerned about what other details they may have been able to access but in 24 hours we have had one message from the site owner saying it hasn't been hacked after all and to be kind to the mods.

Thing is, odd things are happening, random people are being banned for no reason - and then getting insults (tosser being one of them) sent to them when they try and request a new password. So we think there is some kind of hacker.

Now loads of new names are appearing, previously banned people are re registering and not being re-banned and it's all a bit of a shambles. Not one single word has been uttered by a moderator since yesterday afternoon, we think they may have all jumped ship and frankly who could blame them.

BMC (badmothersclub.co.uk for anyone who doesn't know it and no we actually are not bad parents) has been a great little site, so many of us have had such great support from it's members over the years.

So anyway AIBU to think someone should be keeping paying members informed and trying to sort this mess out?

I've never seen anyone on here actually name people from the other sites though

southeastastra · 27/02/2011 17:55

any scathing threads about bmc though?

in the past they have come on when their site was down, so we sort of had a mutual understanding of each other - didn't we??

gordyslovesheep · 27/02/2011 18:03

I think you are being HUGELY unreasonable bringing it here to be honest

I am a member of both sites - I am not a trouble maker and resent the inferance that all BMC members are - I find that unreasonable as well :)

but you can take this to BMC - no need at all to try and cause a shit storm elsewhere

HecateQueenOfWitches · 27/02/2011 18:16

I remember more than once, reading how mners were doing a 'raid' on other sites.

and having a thread, laughing about it, or planning what to do.

So I don't think 'we' can be chucking insults about, re going to another forum and trolling it.

I remember. It may be a few years ago now, but I remember.

grumpywitch · 27/02/2011 18:21

Am also a bmcer, (though different forum name as mine was already gone, sniff.)
Since the hassle a few weeks back, have hardly gone on to BMC, cancelled my subsription etc, though can venture on as an unpaid member. It is a real shame, as over the past six years I have been a member, I have met some lovely ladies, and had invaluable help and advice.
No matter where you go site wise, there will always be people who are out to cause trouble :(

We still haven't had any confirmation one way or another whats going on but a few people have now had replies from someone who claims to be a mod, using the mods email address.

One positive thing is we seem to have had a bit of retro revival with MIA and long fliunced/left posters returning and that place has been busy and jollying along (apart from one or two minor incidents) but it's nice to see it with a bit of life back.

Olessaty · 27/02/2011 18:33

Most BMC members are very nice.

lubeybooby · 27/02/2011 18:33

oops I mean flounced not fliunced

gordyslovesheep · 27/02/2011 18:33

grumpywitch · 27/02/2011 18:35

lubeybooby · 27/02/2011 18:35

fridakahlo · 01/03/2011 23:32

As a serial lurker on BMC I'm very sad that BMC seems to have the plug pulled. I'd espcially like to know how things go with Iona. She won't have a clue who I am but she has made me laugh and nod in agreement and hoik my bosom quite a few times over the years and I know now was probably not a good time for BMC to disappear for her.
And I'll miss the rest of you mad ladies too!
