hiya

this sounds a bit silly and immature, as i'm 27, but wondering what you would do.
i have always fancied getting a tattoo on the back of my shoulder and, although sometimes I've wanted things like a love heart or shamrock, I would love the logo for the karate organisation I have been a member of for 16 years. However my mum has told me tonight not to get a tattoo of something so silly and tattoos are horrible. The logo is very tasteful www.shotobudo.org (I think, its just the black figures in the link provided) and wouldnt look too bad. I do respect my mums opinion as we have a wonderful relationship but i dont know what to do :( any help would be great!

It's not up to your mum if you have one or not. But if you do don't be hurt if she says she doesn't like it. Which she probably will.

DH had one. I'd already told him I don't like them but he was still offended when I said I didn't like his.

It used to be a rebellious thing to do - very rock chick, now every Tom, Dick and Chardonnay has one it is the sign of a sheep.

DP says "Would you draw a moustache on the Mona Lisa? - No, cos you can't improve on perfection"

Actually, the more I see it is a couple masturbating - the more I think this is a joke.

It's your body ,
my mum and dad were against me gettng a tattoo but I never let that stop me and I was eighteen , I would advise you to have a long hard think about what you want done . I love mine even ten years later but I had loved the design for years before .

If you really want a tattoo, go for it. It's your body and you can doodle whatever you like on it. Having said that I've always wanted one but didn't get one because my dad didn't like them and then I moved out, married DH and he doesn't like them so I still haven't got one. I don't want one as much as he would dislike it so it's not worth it imo.

you are 27 it is your body, I would respectfully tell your mother that.

Obviously you can do what you want but personally I think tattoos are awful.

Before having my second one done I had met someone who'd had removals done, one by skin graft which left a big scar and one by laser with no scarring.

Things to bear in mind are that one colour is easier to remove than lots of different colours, the bigger it is the more it will cost to remove (as well as have done in the first place) and the better the tattooist is the easier it will be to get rid of because the ink will all be in the same skin layer (badly done tattoos may be on many different layers).

I had a small black design which would have cost about £300 to remove then (not sure what price would be now). I always thought it could be temporary but still have absolutely no plans to get rid anytime soon Smile.
