Trivial question but Im running late!
Kids have sandwiches etc for their tea at nusery, so I give them a good cooked dinner before they go.
Does beans on toast with side of broccoli, followed by fruit, jelly and natural yougurt count?
I dont have time to cook anything else but feel gulity!

Meg, I kinda live by that rule too Blush
But luckily my dd is addicted to certain foods, mainly boiled beetroot and cherry tomatoes.

Mmmm, Im thinking of putting a jacket potato in the oven and smothering it in beans and cheese.

Damn me starting this thread!

(oh, and the kids survived the ordeal, they are tucked up in bed, phew Wink)

that's why the crudites work well, imo, because they are eating them separate frmo whatever else is coming up. but broccolli on the side of beans on toast will actually not taste nice. i don't really understand the fixation with getting children to eat things that aren't tasty (hidden veg sauces, blerk) in order for them to eat what we think they should eat. basically if the italians don't eat beans and broccolli, i'm not doing it.

Stick an egg on top! Yum.

One of my DCs favourite teas is beans on toast with scrambled egg on the side.

I prefer beans on cheese on toast. It's much nicer if you brown the cheese a little under the grill and then stick the beans on top. With a splash of Worcestershire sauce and lots of black pepper. Maybe a few mushrooms too.

Mine had Thomas spaghetti on toast for lunch today (no cheese or broccoli though)
