it's skin-crawlingly bad, even worse than "fecking" and "farking"

you sound like Prince Philip. That's bad. Stop it.

I am partial to bollocks.

I live the word cunt, so empowering. I never actually say it though. I think it's a beautiful word.

Frak is my swear of choice.

Psammead · 19/02/2011 18:03

Love, rather...

SoupDragon · 19/02/2011 18:04

I despise bleddy. Another I hate, which is nothing to do with swearing, is vair. It makes me want to slap someone.

I do like feck though. It has the same feeling as fuck but appears less offensive.

beingsetup · 19/02/2011 19:08

I am blummin trying not to swear in front of the kids so if i have to say "oh shoot" and blummin I will do it because their little minds might be twisted by my vile swear words .....Hmm

bupcakesandcunting · 19/02/2011 20:07

Aloud, LeQueen, allowed...

hmc · 19/02/2011 20:11

YABU - if they don't want to swear then fair enough. I have no personal problem with swearing and have been told I have a potty mouth, but I appreciate that swearing isn't compulsory!

When I was growing up Bloody (Bleddy) was what we were told to say when trying to avoid swearing. I think it has a religious connection - Blood of Christ - and feck was what we were told to say when avoiding fuck. I read once that feck meant masturbating wheras fuck meant the real deal.

There is a prof of profanity. Will look him up.

drosophila · 19/02/2011 22:01

jonathongreen.co.uk/ Here he is

BreconBeBuggered · 19/02/2011 23:12

I like to use feck on another forum where swearing is Not Allowed, to save wearing out my asterisks. Forgive me if I use it here by mistake.
Bleddy does sound a bit Spitting Image.

OhTallulah · 22/05/2017 21:08

South Lincs/East Midlands here, went to school in Rutland, never heard anyone say bleddy.

PortiaCastis · 22/05/2017 21:10

I'm in Cornwall and that is what we say maid

OhTallulah · 22/05/2017 21:13

I will just say, a friend and I were just talking about the use of bleddy and why people say it, it sounds so ridiculous unless you're from South Africa and she googled and this popped up, I didn't realize it was such an old thread. Blush

twistyturnythings · 22/05/2017 21:16

Fecking bleddy zombie threads

twistyturnythings · 22/05/2017 21:17

Sorry OhTallulah, just saw your second post BlushFlowers

ClashCityRocker · 22/05/2017 21:18

I do love it when people come back and explain why they've bumped a zombie thread! (I do wonder)

Now just need to figure out what the poster who bumped the thread about wanking over a university assignment was searching for...

OhTallulah · 22/05/2017 21:20

Sorrrrrry. Wine

optionalrationale · 22/05/2017 21:25
