to want posters to stop saying "bleddy"?

it's skin-crawlingly bad, even worse than "fecking" and "farking"

you sound like Prince Philip. That's bad. Stop it.

nickelbabe · 18/02/2011 16:41

it's part of the vocab in nottingham too.
we have
bogger (instead of bugger)
bleddy (as well as bloody (which is pronounced bluddy)
blumming (like blooming)

thebountymuncher · 18/02/2011 16:41

Yep, used a bleddy lot in Leicester.

usualsuspect · 18/02/2011 16:42

I have only ever known one poster to use it on here ..it always makes me smile when she does ,because its such a locally used word for me

bibbitybobbityhat · 18/02/2011 16:42

pmsl, just put bleddy in Advanced Search since 1st Feb Hmm.

stiflersmom · 18/02/2011 16:42

anyhoo this regional thing is a red herring

you don't see all the Londoners typing "bladdy"

it's dreadful

OP posts:
stiflersmom · 18/02/2011 16:43

what bibbity?

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 18/02/2011 16:44

Well I bleddy like it and I'm going to use it in all my posts tonight

BottleOfRum · 18/02/2011 16:44

I have to use words like feck and bleedy and all sorts of those ones because our work email picks up swear words automatically and you get in trouble for it. I get so used to writing out 'fecking' all the time that I start to intersperse it in my speach too. Apologies.

ethelina · 18/02/2011 16:44

I think its swearing however you spell the bastard word if the intention behind it is the same. I just use bloody and have done with it.

stiflersmom · 18/02/2011 16:45

ok have run the search as suggested and now see your point

sorry lequeen!

NOT intentional, but I do loathe the word.

OP posts:
thebountymuncher · 18/02/2011 16:45

Blush I've just advanced searched.
It appears I've used it once at least.

ethelina · 18/02/2011 16:45

Feck just reminds me of Father Jack.

BottleOfRum · 18/02/2011 16:48

haha bibbity, I see what you mean about advanced search, I just did it too - seems its predominantly LeQueen having a great time bleddy-ing around everywhere!!

FoundWanting · 18/02/2011 16:48

Looks like it is just one poster's affectation then.

There is special dispensation for these cases (see Deemented's use of Manshape). Grin

justcarrots29 · 18/02/2011 16:51

I believe whole heartedly that there is a place for the word 'fecking'. It is somewhere between 'heck' and 'fuck' and I personally love it.
YAB FECKING U Smile

What I really hate it 'ass' instead of 'arse'.

Sassybeast · 18/02/2011 17:01

Yep - feck is a good sunstitute when the F word is just a bit too extreme.

'Bleddy' reminds me of bosom hoisting, tweed wearing vicarish wife matronly types.

Bogeyface · 18/02/2011 17:03

Dont start on the manshape thing, that really does get on my nerves!

stiflersmom · 18/02/2011 17:05

ah, now with manshape I know the reasons and so I just squint quietly to myself and don't complain

"bleddy" though, I don't know why it grates on me so much but it really really does!

OP posts:
5DollarShake · 18/02/2011 17:07

I get the impression some people consider being compared to Prince Phillip a good thing. Hmm Grin

atswimtwolengths · 18/02/2011 17:23

SO glad someone's brought this up!

I really, really hate it and "blardy" too - what the hell is that about?

Why do people do this?

One thing I used to hate on another forum was when people were being twee and would say "I is" - made me grind my teeth.

stiflersmom · 18/02/2011 17:40

blardy is awful too, but not as bad as bleddy

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 18/02/2011 17:46

Its a bit weird to hate a bleddy word

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 18/02/2011 17:47

Bleddy Blardy, farking....

All shit.

Fooking I like because it sounds northern
Fecking is my favorite word.

I know it's not swearing but Om nom nom makes my eyes bleed.. I don't want to SEE the sound of someone eating. Fuck OFF with your Om nom fucking nom.

HowFuckingRude · 18/02/2011 17:48

Out of respect to the OP I have namechanged.

OracleInaCoracle · 18/02/2011 17:56

yabu. i love it. also love fecking. i use both frequently (mainly because i dont really swear outside the hut) and will continue to do so.
