Anyone else seen this on the wright stuff this morning? It's a safe sex song with the above line embezzled into the lyrics. Personally as someone within the target audience I think it's really crap. It reminds me of those bad actors they used to draft in during high school assemblys to do a play about safe sex that everyone thought was really silly and took the piss out of for the rest of the day!

I wonder how many teenagers are running about highschool today singing about bumsex and how funny it is!!

It's not safe sex though. It's only safe in the sense of avoiding pregnancy.
If this is part of a 'safe sex campaign' then it's really irresponsible.

It's been around for ages. My sister often sings it Hmm

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 18/02/2011 09:56

It's awful. It's tells me I don't have to use a condom fo anal sex, it's 'safe' and that is totally untrue. It's just as important to use a condom for anal as it is for ... non anal. DIsgusting.

MissyMorrison87 · 18/02/2011 09:56

I second you both in that. All it's made me think about is anal sex and how funny I found the term when I was younger. Also about how dangerous anal sex can be if care isn't taken :S

It doesn't make me think about contraception at all!!

this is not as fun as the usual Friday bumsex thread, also is a bit early?

MissyMorrison87 · 18/02/2011 10:06

Haha I've never seen the Friday bumsex thread... Sorry to rain on your parade :( :(

If it's the one I think it is, the message is that you shouldn't listen to the sily sods singing the song.

Mymblesson · 18/02/2011 10:11

I'm sure it used to be 'one up the bot saves one in the cot' when I were a lad.

Certainly nothing to do with safe sex!

BettyDouglas · 18/02/2011 10:12

I thought the point was that some boys may tell you that but it isn't true? It's been a while since I taught sex-ed but I seem to remember that being the point.

BettyDouglas · 18/02/2011 10:13

Oh Xposts with SGB. I will check

BettyDouglas · 18/02/2011 10:15

Oh, you may be right! I must be confused. See
here

RamblingRosa · 18/02/2011 10:18

This was in the news a week or two ago. It's a Marie Stopes campaign and apparently they've apologised for it.

Really irresponsible if young girls are led to believe that unprotected anal sex is safe sex.

It's like the AIDS campaigns of the 80s (or was it 90s Confused never happened.

MissyMorrison87 · 18/02/2011 10:29

I do think Marie stopes have completely taken the piss here. It literally tells you "one up the bum and you won't be a mum" meaning buttsex is the way forward!!

The Marie stopes spokeswoman went on to say "that's not the message we are putting across" but I'm not sure how else to read that line to be honest.

You are spot on with the AIDS thing too. It's completely destroyed the messages of these campaigns. A decade of work ruined IMO.

eatmyfood · 18/02/2011 11:50

Completely agree - when I was young it was sung as "one up the bum, no harm done, one up the fanny, your mum's a granny." But this was pre-AIDs etc. when people popularly thought the worst that could happen was an unplanned pregnancy!

I cringe when organisations like this try and be cool - completely embarrassing.

SmashingNarcissistsMirrors · 18/02/2011 12:00

anal sex without a condom can lead to colorectal cancer due to the same bugs (hpv) that can cause cervical cancer. only you don't get a free anal smear test for early detection.

not to mention all the other lovelies.....herpes, hiv, hepatitis etc.

i guess you don't have to pay csa for that though.

Unrulysun · 18/02/2011 12:06

And I think it's really depressing that they clearly think girls are only 'doing it' for the boys. :(

kreecherlivesupstairs · 18/02/2011 12:41

Shock is this what I am bringing DD back to the UK for?
She was really puzzled (she is only 9) by a scene in Downton Abby where one of the Lady's of the house apparently consented to anal sex to maintain her virginity.

Voddy · 18/02/2011 12:46

I totally missed that inference in Downton Abby, I am Shock

GabbyLoggon · 18/02/2011 13:33

most young men seem to cringe at the thought
of using condoms.

Anal? whatever you think the recipient calls the shots.

I used to know a phone-in presenter who talked anal a lot.

She would dive into the studio after a break and shout on air: I have no problem with anal. ( but didn,t realise that the comment needed clarification)

you will guess it was very late night.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 18/02/2011 13:39

And once again you've outdone yourself Gabby, only one part of your post makes sense.

Voddy · 18/02/2011 13:47

It makes sense as much as it's in English, but otherwise...

GabbyLoggon · 18/02/2011 13:50

Kreecher, anyone who can read can understand and agree or disagree.

I am not responsible for illiteracy in our
society. (Its a hard problem to crack)

which school did you play truant from Kreecher? (please dont say Borstal)

kreecherlivesupstairs · 18/02/2011 13:53

Gabby Gabby Gabby, you are right, I did play truant from a very rough school in Newham. Many many years ago.
Your posts always remind me of Haiku.

Ormirian · 18/02/2011 13:54

Eh? Safe? Safe in what way Confused
