Some gorgeous roses arrived at work this morning, from DD at University, with a card saying
"I feel you deserve these as 21 years ago you were in a lot of pain and I wasn't making things any easier for you. Thank you for everything you've done for me, I love you and Daddy very much xxx

I am welling up....

Hammy02 · 17/02/2011 12:18

That's lovely. I've never seen my birthday from that perspective. It's really made me think.

SiriusStar · 17/02/2011 12:20

That's lovely.
I wanted to do this for my 30th but my Mum died when I was 22.
So I made my dh to it for his mum when he was 30.
Love it!

muggglewump · 17/02/2011 12:22

I shall remind DD just before her 21stGrin

Awww, that's so thoughtful. My DD is a little older than yours (and lovely) so I can really understand how it means so much Smile

Congratulations on bringing up a lovely young lady

That's lovely of her! I gave my parents a print of a lovely family photo on my 21st, to say "thank you for having me" !

I often feel a bit guilty when reading threads on which people say they're in tears, because I rarely am, but I did have a bit of a moment there.

That's lovely. What a good job you've done.

MadreInglese · 17/02/2011 12:53

Hmmm I would think "what has she done and how much will it cost me?"

DownyEmerald · 17/02/2011 12:56

That is so nice.

It was only once I had dd that I realised that my birthday was a significant day for my mum. Seems obvious now!

JaneS · 17/02/2011 13:52

Oh, that is so nice! What a lovely thought.

QuickLookBusy · 17/02/2011 13:55

Ahhhhh!! How lovely.

I've got a little lump in my throat.

NormanTheForeman · 17/02/2011 13:59

I just knew this would be you RustyBear! Smile

How lovely, you must have done a fab job bringing her up! I really hope my lovely 10 year old ds will still be like this when he's 21.

vanimal · 17/02/2011 14:00

Blimey. I never cry at threads. But I did at this a little bit.

You have a lovely, considerate daughter, you must be a great mum Smile

ajandjjmum · 17/02/2011 14:09

That is lovely and thoughtful.

My brother (a lot older than 21!!!) always sends Mum flowers on his birthday. I've been showing them to DS (a lot!) and said what a lovely thought it is. Grin

ComeAlongPond · 17/02/2011 14:12

How utterly lovely. I'll be at home on my 21st due to university holidays anyway but I might just do this for my mum too.

ajandjjmum · 17/02/2011 14:25

I'm sure she'll really appreciate it. Smile

McDreamy · 17/02/2011 14:26

Awww that's made me well up, what a thoughtful, lovely DD you have. Congratulations, you are obviously a fabulous mum

Laquitar · 17/02/2011 14:27

I nearly cried reading this Smile

I didn't say thank you to my parents until i was in my 40s and had my own dcs.

Your dd sounds very mature and lovely to do this when she is 21, living the student life and she is child free.
Oh imagine then what she is going to sent you when she has children and finds out about motherhood. Diamonds? Grin

You must be very proud of her.

notevenamousie · 17/02/2011 14:29

Oh how lovely!! I never thought to do that, though I do get a tortured account of spinals and Kiellands rotational forceps on my birthday every year!
