To have a pole on my landing?

I do pole dancing and burlesque, have a professional X-Pole which is great as it's portable and I can practice a lot.

I have just moved and my bedroom is too small for it, the only options are dining room or landing, which is huge and an unused space really.

Should I be concerned about what guests think, or to hell with it!?

Hahahhaa Hecate...
It's pretty much solely for exercise at the moment (barren...) but the DC are with their dad half the time anyway...

DD is fab at doing handstands against it...

ah, mn. the perfect place for the misguided to attempt to convince everyone how liberated they are.

i'm sure your granny is very proud dear. and what a fabulous message to give to your daughters. well done you.

JLC why?

I only posted that so people could google, or assuming some readers may have on themselves...

I would have thought it could represent an Elf and Safety hazard. Could you escape in the event of a fire without bonking yourself on it?

OTOH, positioned correctly, it could help Firemen gain access

HecateQueenOfWitches · 17/02/2011 14:45

I suppose it's because it's something that was really all about half naked women slithering up and down shiney poles for the entertainment of men who would be ogling them, shoving money down their thongs, calling things out and generally treating them quite badly.

And that, rather degrading to women, thrill for sleezy men, has been taken and put in the homes of women, who choose to do it for exercise.

You could alternatively, I suppose, say you are taking it away from sleezy men in strip clubs and making it good, wholesome exercise.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 17/02/2011 14:46

xpost - that was in reply to someone asking why people are judgemental about it.

It is my opinion on why there are so many people who are judgemental about it.

JamieLeeCurtis · 17/02/2011 14:46

yes Hecate - I have wondered about that. Is it like gay men reclaiming the skinhead from the neo-Nazis?

NoDiving · 17/02/2011 14:51

See it isn't remotely degrading, we have a couple of men in my pole class actually, who very annoyingly have amazing upper body strength....

here's me being empowered in my living room-diner

HecateQueenOfWitches · 17/02/2011 14:59

no, I didn't mean doing it in your home or in a class was degrading. I was saying about how it all came about - pole dancing naked / half naked in strip clubs - is degrading and that may be why people are judgemental about those who choose to bring a pole into their house.

Just speculating.

BooyFuckingHoo · 17/02/2011 15:54

did anyone see the clip on rudetube where the guy launched himself at a pole, did some sort of somersault and landed upside down on the pole, gripping it with just his legs? it was fantastic.

yogididabooboo · 17/02/2011 17:07

guess it would help with the fire fighter training if you can already use a pole

PeterAndreForPM · 17/02/2011 18:39

Looking at your other post on the go at the moment, I think you need a complete re-think about your attitudes towards sex and relationships

having a pole in your house and burlesque dancing is not giving out appropriate signals, and you are feeling the backlash of that, I am afraid

PeterAndreForPM · 17/02/2011 18:40

or you are just a shit stirrer < shrugs >
