To have a pole on my landing?

NoDiving · 17/02/2011 00:34

I do pole dancing and burlesque, have a professional X-Pole which is great as it's portable and I can practice a lot.

I have just moved and my bedroom is too small for it, the only options are dining room or landing, which is huge and an unused space really.

Should I be concerned about what guests think, or to hell with it!?

I'll send him round, sure.

But there's a huge list of jobs he has to do for me first....

I have no idea why I am incapable with drills, flatpack etc, I do try...

I'm good at flatpacks and diy but we've just bought this house and everywhere you look there's something that needs doing. I don't know where to start...so I don't Grin

NoDiving · 17/02/2011 02:15

Hhaha oh I did that for years in the house me and exH bought. Sat drinking tea or laid in bed thinking and envisioning allsorts.

Occasionally I'd make a trip to B&q and replace a doorknob and gloss a skirting board. But that was it.

Could have been an amazing house, and always was in my head....

Sorry but pole dancing is so tacky. Burlesque is just parading around in a titilating manner too. Im amazed so many women buy into acting like this.

PeterAndreForPM · 17/02/2011 07:27

I think you should put it in your lounge

Or the room that gives onto the street so that you can strip and rub your fanny on a pole with the curtains open

Fuck the aunties, you could be displaying your "skills" to the world !

HTH

Professional......pole

wellwisher · 17/02/2011 09:07

Are you a professional stripper burlesque/pole dancer? If not, YABslightlyU to have a pole anywhere, but it's likely you secretly want people to see it so it may as well go on the landing... Alternatively (serious suggestion), do the dcs have a playroom in the new house? Maybe it could go in there.

Happy gyrating Hmm

freshmint · 17/02/2011 09:12

professional pole dancer

lolol

yes, an old and venerable profession. She is a member of the guild of master pole dancers. I'm surprised they don't have a helpline to assist you in siting your pole

Hmm
WhatsWrongWithYou · 17/02/2011 09:15

Don't take the piss you lot - she doesn't do it for money, 's empowerment, innit?

2rebecca · 17/02/2011 09:18

You're going to ask your dad to put up a pole so that you can practice dancing scantily clad to titillate sex obsessed creeps are you?
Nice....really considerate..

BooyFuckingHoo · 17/02/2011 10:56

Op just a thought, you know this portable pole? well couldn't you just move it when you aren't using it? it is portable afterall.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 17/02/2011 11:01

As long as you aren't charging this Eastern European an extortionate rent to live on your landing there shouldn't be a problem.

giyadas · 17/02/2011 11:19
Grin
NoDiving · 17/02/2011 13:59

It's nothing to do with stripping or titillation.

It takes massive amounts of strength and discipline, you do have to be scantily clad or gip but I tend to wear a sports bra and hotpants Hmm

Have a look at Pantera on youtube, or Chinese pole, it's not about sex at all...

HecateQueenOfWitches · 17/02/2011 14:12

If it's portable then why not just put it up when in use and store it in a corner of your bedroom when not in use?

fruitshootsandheaves · 17/02/2011 14:13

I have a pole on mine

It's shiny and silver

QuintessentialShadows · 17/02/2011 14:15

I also have a pole.

It is my husband.

dum dum durrrr.

lospolloshermanos · 17/02/2011 14:20

I've noticed some very judgemental comments, what happened to live and let live?

is it portable op?

SardineQueen · 17/02/2011 14:22

I have a few reservations about this.

If it's on the landing and someone goes upstairs for some reason they might walk into it - it's not the sort of thing you expect in the middle of a landing.

Is there enough room to spin around and around on your landing?

What happens if you bungle it and go flying off, you could fly over the banister and down the stairs.

I think you need to to an Elf and Safety assessment.

NoDiving · 17/02/2011 14:28

Ah it's portable and can be put up in 5 minutes, but it takes two people to do it...

So I know 'd never get round to it...

Sardine queen, there's a big space on my landing, well away from the stairs. It's lined with bookcases. If anyone was to walk into it then they deserve the pain...

Also there is no risk of 'flying off'

DrunkenDaisy · 17/02/2011 14:35

Stop showing off you chav.

HecateQueenOfWitches · 17/02/2011 14:38

I suppose also it depends what you're using it for.

If it's exercise then the landing's as good a place as any, as long as it's not causing a hazard.

If it's for having some other form of exercise Wink then I'm guessing the landing isn't going to be that suitable. Last thing you want is to be naked upside down on a pole and your kids walk out of their room to ask for a glass of water.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 17/02/2011 14:39

See, I've always fancied having a go at pole dancing. I watched a vid on youtube of this woman who was amazing. I appreciated the gymnastics of it. However, I can't even do a handstand, so would be shit.

HappySeven · 17/02/2011 14:40

Jeez, some people are really judgemental! A colleague of my DH does pole dancing (she went along to a salsa class but got the wrong time and thought "what the hell"). She's in her 50s and brought in some photographs to show everyone. He was a bit surprised to begin with but admitted how impressive it was and how he hadn't realised the athletic ability and core strength involved in real pole dancing. I'm guessing all those who think it's about gyrating will snigger and think "of course your DH was impressed" but I think that says something about them and not my DH or those who do it for themselves.

JamieLeeCurtis · 17/02/2011 14:41

Mmm- how interesting that the make of pole is mentioned in the OP.
