I have a daughter. She isn't 'dearest daughter' or even 'dd'. I have a husband. He isn't 'dearest husband' or 'dh' (he is sometimes 'twattish husband', though).

I find the use of acronyms to be a terrible barrier to communication in general and on this forum in particular.

So is it laziness on the poster's behalf? A desire to bond by using similar 'speech' patterns? Is it simply quicker? Or am I being an unreasonable old trout?

gobbledegoop are you the poster from way back with a similar name who was related to another poster JT?

Now you see I have to think very hard when typing some acronyms, like AFAIK and IYSWIM (I always find I want to add a random F to that one).

But on the whole YABU. DP much quicker than partner, for example.

I had no idea of what they meant when I first started posting, don't understand the need for them to be honest, they are lazy.

I had no idea at first either. I know more about acronyms now than I did before so MN has definitly educated me!

I don't care if people don't want to use the acronyms, I will still happily read their post - I just find it quicker and easier to read a post where they are used TBH!
