To want DH to not look like a bin man just because he is ill?

bupcakesandcunting · 09/02/2011 18:12

DH is in day 4 of man flu a bug. He's ill, I don't doubt it. He's achey and sneezy and was being sick on sunday so definitely under the weather.

However, when I am sick, I at least manage to drag a comb through my hair, pull on a clean jumper/jeans and look like I live in a house as opposed to a skip. DH has been wandering around in the following fashions;

Monday - bermuda shorts, red v-neck sweather, slippers

Tuesday - linen trousers that are all threadbare on the bum/knees, wifebeater vest, odd socks.

Today - bin man hat, tracksuit top/jeans he gardens in.

I'm not suggesting he wears a dinner suit to be ill around the house in, but he looks like he's been working on the bin truck. I feel a bit better for just cleaning myself up a bit when sick. He is making me feel a bit scuzzy with his hobo fashion show Grin

you're lucky! mine is scruffy on a daily basis. But he's an old rocker, and works in that business...so,goes with the territory really.

thegreatpudenda · 09/02/2011 19:43

YABU. When I'm ill - as in actually vomitting and stuff I don't brush my hair and I stay in my pj's. It's bad enough when you're ill without your partner expecting you to scrub up. luckily my DH knows what's good for him isn't bothered what outfit I'm puking/snotting all over.

peeriebear · 09/02/2011 19:43

My DH is 27 but still dresses like a teenage boy, ie superhero t shirts, long baggy shorts, skate trainers. Lucky for him he can still pull it off, last year he got ID'd for buying razors!

Spidermama · 09/02/2011 19:47

These days I'm working so I can't vet what he wears on the school run. I can only imagine what 'outfits' slip through the net.

CilantroLarry · 09/02/2011 19:51

Well aren't we demanding op?

Any other groups of people besides binmen you want to insult while you're here?

noddyholder · 09/02/2011 19:56

what is a wifebeater vest?

WincyEtNightie · 09/02/2011 19:56

Do we get a link to a Bin Man Hat?

[Must get up earlier]

bupcakesandcunting · 09/02/2011 19:57

Erm, I think most binmen would agree that they don't wear their fineries to do a very filthy job.

Fuck's sake I KNEW there's be some dufus getting offended on behalf of the binmen.

I think that when you are ill the last thing you want is to be lectured on what you are wearing. So long as he is decent and smells relatively fresh, I would make just make a joke of it.

mamasmissionimpossible · 09/02/2011 19:58

spidermama - pmsl at the bonfire guy being better dressed than your dh :o

My dh is looking like Hmm at me. He is currently a holey elbowed jumper.

ShirleyKnot · 09/02/2011 19:59

You are going to get some shit for the wife-beater vest and all Bup.

bupcakesandcunting · 09/02/2011 20:00

To clarify;

-Haven't lectured him

-Am not being sniffy about binmen

-This thread may not be entirely serious i.e supposed to be a bit "jokey". Check eBay to see if someone's nicked your S.O.H and listed it on there.

bupcakesandcunting · 09/02/2011 20:00

Don't care, Shirls. They're listed as "wife beaters" on H&Ms website.

PMSL bupcakes! Grin

Marne · 09/02/2011 20:03

Dh is on day 1 of man flu, he's up in bed with his big wooly grandad jumper (on top of his thermal vest) and is still moaning that he is cold Grin.

If he's ill i am happy for him to wear what he wants (as long as he does'nt leave the house in it).

BlueFergie · 09/02/2011 20:03

YABU

CilantroLarry · 09/02/2011 20:04

I get that it's supposed to be jokey. Where you fell down is that it isn't funny.

I've been really fricking ill over the past couple of weeks and have had a soh failure entirely. Because getting dressed and brushing my hair really was beyond me a week ago.

Our binmen wear jeans and coats. Presumably, this is acceptable attire as it's not bermuda shorts or linen trousers?

bupcakesandcunting · 09/02/2011 20:04

Think he's glammed himself up for the camera there...

noddyholder · 09/02/2011 20:04
