..to think that the 'celebrity' tweets to Amanda Holden are actually quite vulgar and narcissistic?

I mean really - do these vulgar
vulgar 'celebs' really think their twitter page is the right place to offer this poor woman condolences on the loss of her child?

People like Mylene Klass, Holly Willoughby, James Corden, Piers Morgan, Davina McCall, Richard Madeley, Emma Bunton, etc etc should be ashamed of themselves. If they wanted to offer condolences why advertise it on their twitter page? Send a condolence card, ring, send flowers or visit etc - don't TWEET!

They should be ashamed of themselves - fuckwits.

Well, I wouldnt see them because I follow about five people and they arent zee list celebs like these lot.

I think it comes from journalists to be honest. The must have someone who specifically sits there and follows every celelbrity known to mankind. Then they put all the tweets together.

It was the same with that Liz Hurley and the Shane Warne affair I mean, who would be following them in rl, seriously? the only reason it came out in public was the press who had all their twitters to each other printed out.

Seriously I dont think your normal everyday jo sees these postings, not all of them.

MsKLo · 08/02/2011 14:29

I see what you are saying weird but I can imagine this has changed her - she has gone totally underground - quite understandibly poor woman

bubblewrapped · 08/02/2011 14:29

Just because they have publicly expressed their sadness for her, doesnt mean they havent also contacted her privately if they know her well enough to do that.

I dont mind twitter, some celebs are quite amusing on there.. others are a bit "ooh listen to my wonderful life".. I find it is the most upto date news site though if you follow BBC or Sky.

JamieLeeCurtis · 08/02/2011 14:30

altinkum - I would not comment on Amanda Holden. I don't know her. I do comment on Facebook and twitter because I feel that both have resulted in people losing sight of what is appropriate behaviour

JennyPiccolo · 08/02/2011 14:30

I can't believe anyone agrees with that fuckwit Jan Moir. I'm not an Amanda Holden fan, but i felt awful for her, reading that drivel with accompanying pregnancy photos. Moir was only drawing further attention to the death of her baby. I can't tell if she has no sense of irony, or just doesnt give a toss if it means selling more papers.

MoaningMedalllist · 08/02/2011 14:31

I thinks its nice and ast this time she needs support

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 08/02/2011 14:31

I meant 'you' as in 'anybody', MsKlo, not necessarily 'you' as the poster. :)

I think some people spend far to much time focusing on other people, with celebs being the favourite pastime. It makes me cringe really it does. Why would Amanda Holden or anybody else care about condolence from somebody they don't know and will probably never meet? It just seems a bit creepy and desperate for attention somehow. Confused

MalcolmFuckinTucker · 08/02/2011 14:31

Blimey - deja vu or what? The OP is almost word for word Jan Moir but amazingly she hadn't read it before posting. Funny old world isn't it.

kittya · 08/02/2011 14:32

If they really know her they dont have to do it publically do they? why would you? I find it bizarre.

I am on twitter but I wouldnt have seen any of those comments if the newspaper and news hadnt shown them.

Yes, the BBC is great for news updates.

justcarrots29 · 08/02/2011 14:32

Shocking cazza72 - I am not surprised you are angry at their silly thoughtless antics.

MsKLo · 08/02/2011 14:32

I am echoing your words JamieLee and Altinkum I hope you can see I was not being unkind to Amanda Holden either and to be fair to others on here who commented on some things, they just said she tweeted a while back too thats all

The point is, these celebs who tweet about such a thing are awful

marmy55 · 08/02/2011 14:33

if i knew someone, i would rather send a handwritten card expressing condolences

NancyDrewHasaClue · 08/02/2011 14:33

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

As someone who has lost a baby I would be grateful for any message of sympathy/support, however it came. You'd be suprised how many people just don't say anything.

An agree this thread really isn't in the best taste.

MsKLo · 08/02/2011 14:34

like i said Malcom I was speaking to friends this morning who had read it and pointed out the word narcissistic but the other sentiments are mine

anyway, whats the problem? take a chill pill and lie down dear

OP posts:
megapixels · 08/02/2011 14:34

Yes YANBU, I think it's in poor taste. They are not actually sympathising but wanting to publicise that they are. I think a personal message/call (or visit if very close) to the bereaved parents is the only suitable option.

kittya · 08/02/2011 14:34

I would hate it if random strangers tried to comfort me for any reason never mind something as personal as this.

But Kittya, if you dont follow those people, you wont see the comments.. lol!

bubblewrapped · 08/02/2011 14:35

If you are in the public eye, then offers of condolence from strangers/fans go with the territory.

MsKLo · 08/02/2011 14:36

if you dont find the thread in good taste nancy why contribute to it? now that is weird, you say it is in bad taste but become part of it!

Hmm

look at it like this - would you have really appreciated people posting status updates on their fb page about your loss rather than send you a message privately?

OP posts:
kittya · 08/02/2011 14:37

why is this thread in bad taste no one is being nasty?

People are free to discuss whats going on around us. You dont have to read it.

JamieLeeCurtis · 08/02/2011 14:37

altinkum - fair point.

To me, a lot of communication that should be done face to face is done by text, facebook, twitter, with possibly not the best of motives.

ta kittya - honestly, there is no pleasing some people and they will find anything to pick on. what is so bad about this?

ah well!

OP posts:
kittya · 08/02/2011 14:39

bubble, I understand what you are saying. Thats why I wouldnt know about the numerous celebs that have publically posted, unless Stephen Fry was one of them Smile

To be fair, most of us wouldnt thats why I think the press have people that just look at celeb twitters and put them all together.

Wouldnt you have to follow Amanda Holden as well as the celeb tweeting her? to see it.
