to get angry at this comment re Poshs kids

Ok, ok, before I get flamed I know its the Sun Hmm so it will be a Sun readers opinion Hmm but it just made me angry.

Was reading their story online this morning about Posh and Becks being overjoyed at the fact their 4th baby is going to be a girl and reading all the comments after it. One had the cheek to say something about how determined to suceed they were and if at first you dont succeed, try, try try again. To me thats just offensive and makes it sound like her 3 boys are all mistakes or failures in the road to having a daughter. Im sure childless people who are ttc and would be deperate for a healthy baby regardless of sex would find it pretty offensive to.

I feel like registering to express my opinion, but now that probably would be unreasonable. Grin

mutznutz - what comment are you referring to - I was referring not to the article or the fact shes having a girl - but the person who commented after the story, about the "try, try agin" comment.

I know shes said publicly she wanted a girl - thats her choice, Im not debating or upset about this in the slightest.

And yes donnie there is a Scottish Sun lol - so none of the anti Scottish comments that I read in the Sun that was lying in the hotel when I was in London for work in there for sure!! Hardly anyone buys it here anyway, its well outsold by the Daily Record.

May be we should stop asking new parents what the gender of their newborn baby is as we might be seen as having an agenda Grin

Seriously though I think yanbu as there is the underlying implication that a Posh baby boy would be less welcome than a girl even if we don't care or know its not true

mutznutz · 05/02/2011 11:15

mutznutz-what comment are you referring to - I was referring not to the article or the fact shes having a girl - but the person who commented after the story, about the "try, try agin" comment

Yes so was I.

Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 11:17

ericnorthmans - the comment upset me - as Ive explained because I was told I should abort a healthy baby boy because he wasnt a girl. Ok makes me sensitive I know, shouldnt care blah balh blah - but Im only human with emotions and it reminded me of this.

And I can come on here and post a thread about anything I like if it upsets me - fully prepared for epople to disagree with me at the end of the day becasue its AIBU, so yes people think Im being unreasonable, thats your opinion, mine is different, thats all.

And yes youre right I shouldnt have read it but that was easier said than done.

OP posts:
Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 11:20

mutznutz - youve lost me now because youre original comment was "the comment was 100% correct" - are you saying its correct for someone to think that "if at first you dont succeed in having a girl youve got to keep on trying and any boys you have is a failure" is correct?? Because thats what I was referring to, not Poshs desires for a girl.

OP posts:
Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 11:22

*eaglewings" thank you to, it was the implication there.

EricNorthmansMistress · 05/02/2011 11:23

Yes ok, oversensitive yes, but if you spent your whole life caring about what random strangers thought about other people's lives and applying it to your own...well. I just cannot get my head round why you give two shits what this person thinks.

Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 11:27

I dont spend my whole life caring what random strangers think, it was more of what it reminded me of thats all. Cant explain it any better than that, you would have to have put up with the type of comments Ive had for years, particularly after DS3. Do you have children of all the 1 sex? Whatever sex that is, because if you do youre lucky to have escaped it.

OP posts:
mutznutz · 05/02/2011 11:32

youve lost me now because youre original comment was "the comment was 100% correct" - are you saying its correct for someone to think that "if at first you dont succeed in having a girl youve got to keep on trying and any boys you have is a failure" is correct??

That wasn't what the person said was it? You're putting your own slant on that person's comment.

Posh has always said she wanted a girl..therefore like a lot of people she continued to have more children in the hope she will achieve this. No-one mentioned failure or that she's got to keep on trying.

To be honest, you've twisted this more than the journalists do.

Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 11:35

Yes it was what the person said. That was my point.

What else does the word succeed refer to? Succeed in getting pregnant - no, because shes already pregant.

I know no-one mentioned Posh keeping on trying, again - I was referring to the posters comment, not Posh.

OP posts:
mutznutz · 05/02/2011 11:42

Yes it was what the person said. That was my point

No it wasn't. I've just found the article in question and the comments and you've twisted it totally.

Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 11:46

That was what the post read to me. You think Ive twisted it - I dont. Other wise why use the word "succeed"? That implies failure to me.

That was what the post read to me

That's exactly my point. We all read differently into things...that's how you've read into it so there's no point in getting upset.

We'd all be doomed to a life of perpetual misery if we got upset at random strangers comments and read things into them that they probably didn't mean in the first place.

purepurple · 05/02/2011 11:52

YABU to get angry at a comment made by a stranger about people that you don't know.
Me, I couldn't care less. Obviously, your past experiences are influencing how you feel about this situation. But to get angry about it is a bit of an over reaction.
Personally, I never found out the sex of either of my 2 children before they were born.

Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 11:55

Fair enough mutznutz. Smile
I know we all have different opinions - its what having different minds is all about isnt it. But having a mind also involves feelings, wouldnt life be great if we didnt ever get upset about anything eh! Smile

I read it too Blush (DP likes the sport pages) I always got the impression their kids are all wanted and much loved boys. Yes they would love a girl after 3 boys but many other people would in the same situation (and vice versa). Why is that so wrong?

Whole story probably utter bollocks anyway. They reckoned Victoria's sister offered her sack fulls of girl baby clothes she no longer needed. The beckhams, dress any of their DC in secondhand baby clothes, especially the little girl they've wanted for so long? fuck off! Grin

Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 12:33

saffy I dont think its wrong to have a preference - but I do think its wrong to imply that they only "succeeded" by getting a girl - and another boy would have been a failure, although not everyone agree obviously Smile. For example another comment reads "if it had been another boy - that would suck".

Its back as to what someone said earlier what society regards as "ideal", having 3 boys myself I have had comments about my family not being balanced without a girl, like we can choose eh lol.

And I agree with you I dont see them dressing her in second hand clothes!! Grin

OP posts:
clam · 05/02/2011 12:34

Why does Posh look so bloody miserable at the moment? You'd think she'd be pleased to be pregnant with a much-wanted healthy baby.

Hmm
ensure · 05/02/2011 14:45

People are funny. I was stood with DD and two other mums on Friday. One has two boys, one has one boy and is pregnant. They started going on about how they were so glad they had boys and how they would hate to have a girl.

Erm
A) I am right next to you, and my DD can understand most of what you are saying,
B) Girls are just as lovely as boys you silly bints,
C) How rude!

traceybath · 05/02/2011 14:52

Is she having a girl - I thought they weren't finding out?

She looks ill to me as in pregnancy sickness related - thats how I looked pretty much all through my 3rd prengancy with a girl.

Well obviously not quite so thin and well dressed as posh though Wink

Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 14:59

ensure I totally agree with you, some people are either rude or just plain stupid. I dont think 1 sex is better than another either. This stupidity ignorance works both ways as youve found out.

The last comment I had to deal with said it was a shame I didnt have a girl as I wouldnt be complete as a woman without a daughter - I mean wtf lol. All children are a blessing and Ive been lucky with my 3 boys who are smashing.

Ive also been told that the relationship I have with my boys wouldnt be as close as if 1 of them was a girl!

Do you really want to draw more attention to those two media moguls?

I squirm just hearing their names.

Plus you read The Sun, and therefore are not entitled to an opinion imo.

Newgolddream · 05/02/2011 15:57

ladyofthemanor are you for real? How dare you - Im not entitled to an opinion because I read an article in the Sun online? (deliberately looked it up). I take it you havent bothered to read my post when I stated I dont read the Sun and the reasons why.Hmm

The last time I looked we are all entitled to an opinion.
