Or at least, in Mumsnet World there are. Is it just me, or is this expression becoming a teeny bit overused?

Passive Aggressive definitions and typical behaviours Psychobabble yourself up... on the house.

swanandduck · 04/02/2011 15:50

Enjoy that glass of wine. It's a bit early for me, I would never touch alcohol before 8 o clock. Not criticising, honestly. I'm sure you dont have a problem.

I don't think it's overused.

I think people are more able to identify what is possibly one of the most common human behaviours.

Not have the balls to come out and say what you mean.

Hiding behind flowery words you don't really mean.

Attempting to manipulate with the poor little me act.

etc etc.

It's mentioned a lot because it's done a lot.

We should all just grow a pair (each Grin ) and say what we mean in an assertive manner.

nickelthenaughtybutnicefairy · 04/02/2011 16:03

a pair of BiscuitBiscuit ?
or
ShockShock ?

My mother is the patron saint of passive aggressive.

Every time I question anything about her behaviour she just looks hurt and says ' well I suppose I am just stupid then and everything is my fault. As usual"

Drives me barmy.

funny, my mum says that, but it's true! Grin

(not LeQueen's one - she doesn't dare call me bad-tempered... Wink )

HecateQueenOfWitches · 04/02/2011 16:09

Oh, my mother can beat your mother Grin

When you pull her up on anything she says

"It's ok, it's my fault, I can take it, I've got broad shoulders"

aka "It's not my fault at all (it is!) and you're mean.

Truckulente · 04/02/2011 16:10

Where you being PA when you spelt aggressive incorrectly? Very PA that is.

I'm just trying to imagine a world where everyone went round saying exactly what they meant.

'Have I put on weight'
'Yes'

'Do you still fancy me as much as when we met?'
'No'

'Is size important'
'yes'

windynight · 04/02/2011 16:13

you think thats bad

Was just in a er, cuddle session, with dh who ran his hand along my back and across my um and said "we should get a tread mill"

windynight · 04/02/2011 16:13

um = bum

Actually Truck, I think you mean were not where (no, no, don't worry it didn't confuse me or anything).

OP posts:
nickelthenaughtybutnicefairy · 04/02/2011 16:16

no, Truck means where.
"imainge a world where eveyone..."

GloriaSmut · 04/02/2011 16:16

I shall repeat my assertation that the very expression passive-aggressive wants to make me hit those that over-rely on this lazy pychobabble.

nickelthenaughtybutnicefairy · 04/02/2011 16:16

oh bollocks, now look!

you mean "were you being passive..."

fuck it!
Blush

UnquietDad · 04/02/2011 16:17

I was spelling in a passively aggressively deliberately way.

Or was I? Or is my iPhone being passive aggressive and doing it to/two/too me on purpose?
