To be out off Mumsnet by certain men on here?

WimpleOfTheBallet · 03/02/2011 19:10

I love this site...but it's called MUMSNET...I know and accept there are some regular male posters...and they should benefit from the site as they're parents too...but some men here have massive agendas and only post in threads related to sex..teenage girls and other similar things.

I KNOW they can't be banned...but it really ANNOYS me when they clutter the place up! AIBU?

Can we make a list of the ones we would like to keep, that way we're not mentioning the ones we don't, but they might take the hint.

yogididabooboo · 03/02/2011 19:21

I don't think that there is anything that can be done about it but I am gnu to start reporting the obvious pervs.

its ok, MNHQ know me from old Wink

WimpleOfTheBallet · 03/02/2011 19:21

Well perhaps the chatty bit needs expanding...into an entire site. Grin

Seriously..there are SO many more men today who parent full time...and their interests and isues wil be different tohose of women.

Why even the Adverts here are geared towards women...haven'tseen any mle clothing companies choosing it as a platform.

OTheHugeManatee · 03/02/2011 19:22

If having men around really bothers you, there are women-only forums available. Just not this one.

YABVU.

KangarooCaught · 03/02/2011 19:22

YABU, one of the most moving & well-written posts I've ever read on MN was by a male MNer, full of humour & poignancy, until then had no idea they were male (RG, btw)

And with anyone trolling or just being a jerk, of either gender, there is always the option of ignoring them.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 03/02/2011 19:22

Yes Beertricks...I am rather... Grin

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/02/2011 19:22

"here are SO many more men today who parent full time"

EXACTLY - so surely the "parenting" "behaviour" "weaning" "food" "recipes" etc are actually relevant to them Confused

SarahStrattonHasNiceBears · 03/02/2011 19:23

but some men here have massive agendas and only post in threads related to sex..teenage girls and other similar things

You mean batman doncha Grin

WimpleOfTheBallet · 03/02/2011 19:24

I know Kangaroo...but it irritates me when others can't SEE trollry and blooy respond over and over....feeding them.

WHY couldn't people see that the shit in the station one the other day was batan trollfoolery? No only did people fall for it but someone sent thir SISTER round there with clothes!!

I'm not sure what other parenting issues would be different for a full time SAHD and a full time SAHM.

And as for their "interests being different"

Would that be the football, or cars, or cricket (al of which I've seen discussed at length by posters I know for sure are female???)

HecateQueenOfWitches · 03/02/2011 19:27

It's a parenting forum.

Bad mother's club does not only admit bad mothers. Good mothers are also welcome. And bad and good dads.

Bounty does not only admit chocolate covered coconut bars.

And, tbh, if we're talking about pervy posters with the sex mad talk, I tell you one thing - it's not the men on here that have the filthy minds and flirt outragiously and talk endlessly about bum sex and who made me aware of so many disgusting things that if my pc ever breaks down I shall have to burn the hard drive rather than let a repair person see my google history!

AnyFucker · 03/02/2011 19:27

I usually just pull the annoying ones up on it on the thread in question

I don't mind men at all on here

Some of them are really rather nice

I can laugh at the ones that pop up on only sex threads (can think of a couple and reckon they should start a thread of their own, because I think they are covering up some real problems with daft bravado)

however, there have also been a couple of rather darker male posters who have tried to infiltrate threads where there are vulnerable women (eg in the Relationships topic) with their "you women deserve everything you get" agenda

and also on the Feminism topic there has been some "you women just need a good fucking, and if you listen to my wisdom you will be ok" type of stuff

thankfully, it seems those darker types have(temporarily?) been drummed outta here because it is quite clear what their agenda is, and we strong women will not stand for it

I absolutely love the fact that, on the whole, the men that seem to think if they try their "I am a man, you will listen to me" bollocks that often seems to work in RL (among stupid people), it just brings them utter ridicule on here

there is the example of the male poster who quoted "I earn multiples of all the previous posters put together on this thread" and thought that would get him respect

it didn't

he is conspicious by his recent abscence (for now)

WimpleOfTheBallet · 03/02/2011 19:27

Baroque yes...of course...what I a getting at is that the site is mrketed at women...so naturally a user feels some ownership...it's a very good site...sothat's a given...the adverts are all aimed at women, in order to give a truer representation of it, the ads need to be 50/50 aimed at men and women then.

Where are the ads for shaving stuff? Male interest books? The health advice for men?

If it were even stevens then it would be a parenting site...but it's called MUMS net

Not PARENTSNET

OP posts:
bettybosseye · 03/02/2011 19:27

How do you know who's a man and who'a a woman on here? You only know what they tell you. Why don't you think of people here as just that...people.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/02/2011 19:27

BTP - yes there was - I beleive there was an affair a few years ago Shock!

(amd I think 2 posters on the Gay and Bi threads met each other here too and are now a couple?? - could be wrong about that)

yogididabooboo · 03/02/2011 19:28

the adverts are aimed at the mojority of those who use and view the site.

same as adverts on TV are geared twaords teh target market for that show.

Football matches have Gillett, Eastenders has Tampx etc.

If you are smart enough to go troll spotting then surely you can work that out too?
and way to go calling strifry stupid simply for being too caring

baroque - were you not here for the TAmba/CarlK debacle then?

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/02/2011 19:30

agree with yogi about the adverts being aimed at the majority - when I watch the Cricket - or the Rugby I'm bombarded with adverts that are obviously targetted at the men.........it doesn't mean I still don't like the cricket and the rugby Grin

WimpleOfTheBallet · 03/02/2011 19:31

yogi...who is stirfry? I never called thenm stupid!

OP posts:
BaroqueAroundTheClock · 03/02/2011 19:31

yes I was - but I was hazy on details - I seem to have RL shite happening in my life when interesting stuff is happening on MN - so have never been sure of the details of the Carl/Tamba thing Grin

WimpleOfTheBallet · 03/02/2011 19:33

it annoys me about the ads...in fact the ads annoy me a lot. Who says Mumsnet people mostly like Boden? Who says we buy those boring looking mugs that are always leerng at me from the top of my screen?

OP posts:
yogididabooboo · 03/02/2011 19:35

Stirfry/memoo was the poster who sent her sister along to the shitty pants troll.

you were insinuating that she was somehow stupid for not knowing it was a troll and even more daft for sending her sister along to help.

CarlK posted here for a while. much about his wife and DC.
Tamba was here under various guises for years. always went from one drama to another, everything seemed to have a basis in sex though. working for a phone sex line, doing ann summers parties etc.
CarlK worked nearby and wold often give her a lift to and from work.

it soon errupted into a full blown affair.

Trouble was, carlK's wife was also a mumsnetter!
