In not wanting to take dd1 to her guides tonight in this wind

I'm scared in the house already

the patio doors windows, 12 foot by 12 foot ish(metal frame, old) are creaking in the wind...they've enver done that before Sad

the 10 foot trampoline and enclosure has uprooted the swinf set on the way down the garden and the only thing keeping it in the garden in the tree it is wrapped around Sad

if you open the front door it whips itself shut out of your hand

the noise of the wind is scary its so loud

and its freezing cold with the heating on

the drive to guides would be about 3 miles on single track treelined roads and then a bit in town at 7pm and then pick up at 9 pm

I really dont want to

Its always been windy here by the sea but I dont go out in it in the dark usually ever and it seems worse than its ever been beofre

we have been forecast 80 mile an hour winds and I'm not liking it Sad

If you are concerned - don't go. Nothing major will happen if you don't...they will get over it!

BeribbonedGibbon · 03/02/2011 16:32

Stay in TR Smile

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 03/02/2011 16:33

The weather forecast is for increasing wind IIRC.

If you are anxious then don't go. You'll be miserable all evening.

How about a dvd evening with dd instead

muggglewump · 03/02/2011 16:36

YANBU, the weather is like that here too (Clyde).
I was almost blown over in the street earlier.

Aimsmum · 03/02/2011 16:37

I am trying to convince DD that she doesn't want to go to guides tonight, but it's not working!

We're in Glasgow, it's wild here, but no as bad as where you are I imagine. I would stay home in your case!

FlamingoBingo · 03/02/2011 16:37

YANBU

Shame she'll miss being enrolled, but is it really worth it? That sort of wind sounds dangerous.

seb1 · 03/02/2011 16:37

It is wild here near Glasgow wheelie bins are flying everywhere walking past the trees on the way to school they ere creaking.

FlamingoBingo · 03/02/2011 16:37

Surely they'll just enrol her next week instead?

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 03/02/2011 16:38

oh bugger bugger bugger

OP posts:
seb1 · 03/02/2011 16:38

were even

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 03/02/2011 16:39

yes she wont miss her enrolment they will just do it next time BUT she can choose to be enrolled at the pool if she wants and they are going to the pool tonight and not sure when next

god I am crap

Onetoomanycornettos · 03/02/2011 16:39

If it's that bad, really don't go. It's not worth driving in those kind of winds in the dark, even if she will be disappointed. You won't be the only one not going, surely.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 03/02/2011 16:42

someone make my decisions for me pleeeeeease

OP posts:
FlamingoBingo · 03/02/2011 16:45

Don't go. Decision made.

Nyx · 03/02/2011 16:46

Decide not to go. It's horrible out. If your DD is anything like my DD she won't want to go out.

LollipopViolet · 03/02/2011 16:46

Don't go. If she's in Guides, she'll be old enough to understand that sometimes the weather makes driving dangerous. And, I know it might delay the process (I'd been at Guides a few months before I enrolled), could she maybe do it at a camp, round a campfire? I wanted to do that but stupidly forgot to organise it and sort of regret it, in a "it would've been a lovely memory" way.

whatdoiknowanyway · 03/02/2011 16:47

don't go.
Sounds unsafe.

ComeAlongPond · 03/02/2011 16:47

Don't go. If the weather's that bad I doubt she'll be the only one not making it anyway.

upahill · 03/02/2011 16:50

Don't go.
Send a text or ring and say she won't be there.

I bet she won't be the only one missing tonight.

I've got to force myself up and out for scouts and cubs.
one is 4 miles away from my house then drive across town past my house and another 4 miles in the opposite direction and they both have to be picked up at 9.00 (sigh!)

BuzzLightBeer · 03/02/2011 16:50

Don't go. Its the same here (East coast Ireland), I'm not going anywhere!
