In not wanting to take dd1 to her guides tonight in this wind

I'm scared in the house already

the patio doors windows, 12 foot by 12 foot ish(metal frame, old) are creaking in the wind...they've enver done that before Sad

the 10 foot trampoline and enclosure has uprooted the swinf set on the way down the garden and the only thing keeping it in the garden in the tree it is wrapped around Sad

if you open the front door it whips itself shut out of your hand

the noise of the wind is scary its so loud

and its freezing cold with the heating on

the drive to guides would be about 3 miles on single track treelined roads and then a bit in town at 7pm and then pick up at 9 pm

I really dont want to

Its always been windy here by the sea but I dont go out in it in the dark usually ever and it seems worse than its ever been beofre

we have been forecast 80 mile an hour winds and I'm not liking it Sad

You will set a good example to your daughter if you make the decision decisively. As in "we" are not going because you have weighed up the risks of being outside with debris flying around and that although it is disappointing it's a responsible and sensible decision.

Chatelaine · 03/02/2011 16:57

Don't see it as a weakness on your part btw. You could always read the guide book together or do something else constructive. Do not be hard on yourself.

sarahtigh · 03/02/2011 17:00

don't go i'm in argyll very windy stay home its the track, if a tree blows over its a long walk home

it seems bad now but in the big sclae 1 week will not matter

katiestar · 03/02/2011 17:09

What abour the poor guiders who have turned out themselves to entertain your DD? don't you think it's a bit inconsiderate to them?

werewolf · 03/02/2011 17:13

The guiders themselves might cancel the meeting, as the wind's so bad?

Indith · 03/02/2011 17:14

Katie believe me the Guiders would far rather have girls stay home than come out if conditions are dangerous for driving.

Don't worry about taking her, really. Anyway I'd be quite surprised at being enrolled after just 4 weeks, she can wait a bit longer and have the chance to put some thought into choosing her enrollemnt night to make it extra special.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 03/02/2011 17:15

shes crying

but the pato windows are bowing in and out by about a cm

I've rung her leader and she understands and agress I shouldn't come

Don't go TR. Your instincts are telling you not to - trust them. Send a text to the 'poor guiders' so they know your daughter isn't coming. Don't go, stay home.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 03/02/2011 17:17

tonight they were going swimming and the swimming pool was shut due to algae yesterday and the leader will be cancelling guides tonight if it is still shut

she has said that I shouldn#t bring her in this weather
