I have just been asked to leave Starbucks!!!

I am furious!

I have just been asked to leave Starbucks as I was only drinking coffee and not breastfeeding a baby.
Apparently you can only drink coffee in their store if you breastfeed at the same time.

I tried to stand my ground and say that I could drink my coffee wherever I felt like but they said
"not in here, please only come back if you are breastfeeding"

Was I being unreasonable?

TrillianAstra · 25/01/2011 12:27

I suppose I could have pretended, but I don't think the baby would have been very impressed.

Unrulysun · 25/01/2011 12:38

Were you not breastfeeding discretely? I think it's OK to not breastfeed as long as you're not trying to not do it discretely.

HTH hun.

KangarooCaught · 25/01/2011 12:41

Wearing a 'extended bf' badge gives you immediate status in Starbucks, TA, you can even tip the coats off the backs of chairs.

brokenmarrow · 25/01/2011 12:48

i am literally rofl this is the funniest thing i have read in ages - especially the subway up the jumpa

please stop my work collegues are backing away from my desk!!

cornsilk · 25/01/2011 12:49

blue peter badge also accepted

KangarooCaught · 25/01/2011 12:58

Might have to don the Blue Peter badge Cornsilk. For some reason ds avoids me when coming off the rugby pitch as half time for refreshment. Might it be the extended breast-feeding badge? Kids eh, so embarrassed over the littlest thing.

So OP, are we having a sit-in?

BreastIntentions · 25/01/2011 13:02

I heard that in some, a Public Transport "Baby on Board" badge gets you a leather sofa (or in my local, the roomier disabled loo and and eighth of skunk).

GrimmaTheNome · 25/01/2011 13:08

Were you not breastfeeding discretely? I think it's OK to not breastfeed as long as you're not trying to not do it discretely.

I don't know about the etiquette of not breastfeeding, but I'm afraid I always insisted on BFing discretely - don't know quite what would be entailed in the converse Confused. Not necessarily discreetly, though Grin

BreastIntentions · 25/01/2011 13:10

Not like Maggie then Grimma Grin

Rannaldini · 25/01/2011 13:24

i think we need a sit in where we conspicuously don't breast feed any any babies (our own or anyone else's)
we wear clothing that isn't curiously slit in any areas

we then simply drink coffee (and perhaps eat muffins)

stick it to the man, eh

Who's with me?

OP posts:
cornsilk · 25/01/2011 13:25

yeah - we wear Isabella Oliver 365 instead of maternity

GrimmaTheNome · 25/01/2011 13:25

That looks discrete to me - one boob, one babe.

BreastIntentions · 25/01/2011 13:28

She looks like she hasn't even noticed her boob is out.

To be fair if my norks were as nice as Maggie's I'd forget to do a button or five up...

WincyEtNightie · 25/01/2011 13:37

I would, Ranaldini. Sounds heavenly.

As soon as I can find someone to babysit my (breastfed) 8m DS Grin

Bumperlicious · 25/01/2011 13:45

Can you just save me time & link to the thread you are taking the piss out of?

mumbar · 25/01/2011 13:49

yes a link would be good. Unless is bad form and classed as a personal attack. Confused

Bisous · 25/01/2011 13:50

LoL you ladies have made me laugh! thank you, needed it today!!

Serendippy · 25/01/2011 13:53

Bumper it is now taking the piss out of many threads!

By the by, if you were BF, you know that when the baby finished someone could come and demand that the baby gave up his/her place as they were not eating anymore and another child wanted to eat. You could end up feeding 27 children in a row as when one baby has finished with a highchair boob, another is immediately entitled to it...

WincyEtNightie · 25/01/2011 13:58

Serendippy Grin. No wonder Maggie "forgot" to do up her buttons. She's probably been there for a couple of weeks already!

GrimmaTheNome · 25/01/2011 14:10

Ah, that would explain how you could feed non-discretely - a continuous supply of babies. Thanks for enlightening me.

ragged · 25/01/2011 14:12

Hey, I can sense a business opportunity here, just waiting to be developed, shall I pitch it to Dragon's Den?:
Inclusive Service Breastfeeding Cafes,
where you get to leave baby behind in the cafe (somebody else can feed it whilst mainlining lattes) and take your norks with you to go shopping (or whatever else you'd rather be doing).

DuplicitousBitch · 25/01/2011 14:15

you need to start an online petition immediatly or do fuck all which amounts to the same thing

BreastIntentions · 25/01/2011 14:19

This actually looks more like a cloak of shame than a specially adapted top. Still, you can swap your camera film with ease whilst wearing it. Perhaps you could develop (hah!) your business idea to incorporate this service Ragged?

BelfastBloke · 26/01/2011 10:33

I've just realised I was thrown out of Starbucks for not breastfeeding, too!

(I thought it was because I had my knob out).

sarahtigh · 26/01/2011 11:48
