Lots of mums run around after their family like headless chickens

Why do I constantly read about mums on here running around after their kids and husbands like headless chickens and then moaning about it?

I am new here and I am amazed on how 1950's a lot of you sound.

The woe is me brigade.

OP - people like to moan, simples.

The work place is full of whingers who will never get off their arse and change jobs.

Schools are full of whinging parents who won't ever actually take their children out.

Football terraces are full of men whinging about thier team/manager.

Tis how a lot of people are. I don't get it either.

Megatron · 23/01/2011 08:32

"I always look on the bright side"

Good for you. So do I (most of the time) but I have no objection to other people having a moan if they feel like it. Not everyone has a perfect life.

I also wouldn't presume that what people say and actually do are always the same thing. How do you know that they 'make no changes' from reading something about someone you don't know on the internet?

GlynistheMenace · 23/01/2011 08:32

Maybe you should stop asking them then?

If you do ask how someone is, do you expect them to lie just to keep you interested?

Of course some people seem to like a moan. On the whole I find these people are not listened to, on a grander scale I mean.

Or they have an underlying issue/problem that they are struggling to come to terms with, so need a good moan to try to find a solution.

I try too look on the bright side, but try not to dismiss 'moany' people as boring. They may be asking for help but not very confident in how they go about it?

Megatron · 23/01/2011 08:34

Xenia I don't think it's a woman thing at all. DH is always bloody whinging about something!

matchbox20 · 23/01/2011 08:38

Maybe you should stop asking them then?

It is just the normal greeting is it not when you meet someone.

'' Hi HOW ARE YOU?''

I think the conclusion is some people enjoy moaning. Some people will do something about it, some will not.

Come on Matchbox you must have a wee moan about something sometimes? Just a tiny moan?

I moan about the weather, my hair, my height and getting older. Doesn't mean I spending my life going on about it.

CheerfulYank · 23/01/2011 08:47

This thread has produced nothing in me but a massive craving for a bacon sarnie.

matchbox20 · 23/01/2011 08:48

lol

yes but these things are unimportant.

A bad hair day against ''my oh dont do anything and i am at the end of my tether''

I moan cause they put football on and cancel corrie.
but i cant do nothing about that..

I moan about my job so i am presently looking for another one, not just moaning doing something about it.

OP posts:
porcine · 23/01/2011 08:49

Imoan about myjob but am not looking as its the best option available at this time.

CheerfulYank · 23/01/2011 08:49

I moan when people sasy "can't do nothing..."

Wink
CheerfulYank · 23/01/2011 08:50

Er, say. Oops. Blush

matchbox20 · 23/01/2011 08:52

Imoan about myjob but am not looking as its the best option available at this time.

In which case you have sat down and thought about your options and decided on what is bast, so you have done something about it.

OP posts:
claig · 23/01/2011 09:05

I used to moan about the Labour party. But I had to wait for 13 years until the public agreed with me. Now I moan about the global warming frauds, but I will have to wait until the public catches up again.

matchbox20 · 23/01/2011 09:07

Do you still think the public will agree with you after 4 years of tory rule....I think not.

OP posts:
claig · 23/01/2011 09:11

Absolutely. they won't let those pontificating, progressive phrauds back in for years. If Scotland does go independent, those frauds will find their goose is cooked, and they will never see power again. The public know that it was those crafty clowns that got us into the state we are in.

But no need to main about them now. They are history.

claig · 23/01/2011 09:12

moan about them now.

Have to moan about my keyboard, the letters have the paint wiped off.

matchbox20 · 23/01/2011 09:13

So the best is yet to come then?

Lets wait and see.

"Because I was conditioned by my parents generation and culture to think I was only good enough if I had a full time job and ran the home.

I have now learned that its all shite"

Great quote Smile

purepurple · 23/01/2011 09:16

I moan about lots of things. If I didn't I think my head might explode. Then I might start running around like a headless chicken Grin

justcarrots29 · 23/01/2011 09:19

Well congratulations matchbox - you seem so perfect and well put-together with an amazing marriage I think you should be the mumsnet resident councillor and Chief Advisor on all debates. I am in awe, you sound formidable and completely wise. Thank you. Smile

claig · 23/01/2011 09:36

'I think you should be the mumsnet resident councillor and Chief Advisor on all debates.'

Has scottishmummy relinquished the position?

WimpleOfTheBallet · 23/01/2011 09:40

I can't believe the reaction the OP got! She asked a reasonable question and it was a barrage of "Oh fuck off's"

Confused

I never thought it was trollish at all!

And she's right. I'm not a pushover by any means...but I'm still struggling to undo my dear MILS "work" as far as conditioning my DH in what men are "meant to do"

Someone asked what it has to do with anyone else...

Well it has everything...I've 2 DDs and I don't want them meeting men who think their job is to take on the bulk of the housework because that's what they saw their Mum do.

I know I have "no say" in what other people teach their kids...but I will damn well shout about it if I get the chance.

claig · 23/01/2011 09:49

I think this thread calls for the clear, concise logic of scottishmummy. I think there may be a few bawbags on this thread.
Moaning is just words on a screen. No harm done, suck it up, jog on.

WimpleOfTheBallet · 23/01/2011 09:50

Who you calling a ballbag claig?

claig · 23/01/2011 09:51

No one, I'm only joking.
