I was quite sort of Hmm when I saw the mother of a friend of my dd's in reception dropping off at school in her pj's this morning. Is it really that difficult to get dressed in time? Maybe I'm not normal, you know getting clothes on to leave the house Grin.

But why are yesterday's clothes more acceptable than pyjamas? Honestly - I ^really really6 don;t understand this point.

I sometimes put boots abd coat over pyjamas (not if they look really pyjama-y, obviously) because we don''t have enough hot water for everyone to have a shower in the morning and I am certainly not going to put on clean clothes without a shower.

Will someone PLEASE tell me what's so bad about this? I feel like a 4 year old - WHAT"S THE REASON?!!!!!!!^

I don't see that yesterdays clothes are better than PJs seeker. I think it is more skanky to get dressed without having a shower first.

MooMooFarm · 20/01/2011 11:47

I have never seen anyone out in public in their pjs! Does that mean I live in a posh area? Grin

YANBU at all. I agree completely. It looks so freaking LAZY. Wonder if they don't even brush their teeth or get cleaned up in the morning

  1. Because there's no time, or
  2. Because it's more comfy, or
  3. Because it's nobody else's business etc. etc.

megapixels It might look lazy, but it doesn't mean that people who do this are lazy or that they haven't washed/cleaned their teeth. It might just mean that they are cumfy in their PJs. Or it might mean that they will have a bath and get dressed when they get home because they have used all the hot water for the DC.

Someone wearing yesterdays clothes is deemed more acceptable, but might not have had a bath/cleaned their teeth. I think it's wrong to make assumptions about a persons parenting/personal cleanliness based on something as unimportant as whether they've nipped to school in their PJs.

Yesterday, I wore my fake Ugg slippers to school, because I have a blister. I thought of you all judging at the school gate Wink

'"But why are yesterday's clothes more acceptable than pyjamas?

Because it's all down to what is appropriate.

So it's basically just down to appearances. Pyjamas would be much cleaner than yesterday's clothes - but it's not about that = it's about how it looks.

What about people who sometimes walk their dog in pyjamas because it is so bloomin' early and they intend going back to bed again afterwards, after all it is Saturday (um, not talking about anyone in particular)? Casual talk, casual talk....

MoomooFarm, neither have I.I have never seen anyone in the supermarket wearing them either, and I shop in Asda sometimes.Grin

Agree with LeQueen. At least yesterday's clothes have probably aired a bit before being worn again, whereas last night's pyjamas. Eeww.

Also - how clean they are is not the point tbh. I mean, unless I went over and sniffed the clothes I probably wouldn't know whether clean or not. But I could tell at 20 paces that someone just couldn't be bothered to pull some clothes on before leaving the house. And personally I think that is way more disrespectful and manky than someone either wearing yesterday's clothes or dressing into clean clothes without showering first.

Who cares really ...loads of done to death threads on MN atm [been here too long]

"And personally I think that is way more disrespectful and manky than someone either wearing yesterday's clothes or dressing into clean clothes without showering first."

So it'a all about "how things look" and "what will the neighbours say".

I said on another thread recently that when I was a young woman I had this idealistic view that by the time I was middle aged, people would have stopped being so superficial and narrow minded. Sadly, but I suppose predictably, I was wrong.
