Twas an Aviva one for life insurance. Family getting ready for holiday, all jolly, then suddenly the dad disappears and you realise he is DEAD. DD was on my lap and kept hugging me when she saw my tears. Anyone else see it?

Sorry - bit of a novice at this. This link should work :)

fruitstick · 18/01/2011 12:13

NOW WHY ON EARTH DID YOU MAKE ME DO THAT!

maras2 · 18/01/2011 12:14

I blub for England but that Aviva one just left me cold.I think because it was Paul Whitehouse,I was waiting for a comedy punchline

SmethwickBelle · 18/01/2011 12:15

I have been known to cry at the sight of a lovely horse in a field (nothing more to it, just a horse in a field) so adverts always floor me. All of the above adverts make/made me cry.

The recent Fire Safety one where it is run backwards "Know Your Way Out Backwards", made me blub buckets this week, and then I checked my smoke alarms to find all the batteries were dead :o They're not now. :)

CalamityKate · 18/01/2011 12:16

Oh that made me cry!

I used to sob at the Cancer Research "Magic Mirror" advert.

Also Blush the mobile phone one, where the poor little unwanted mobile phone was trudging the streets and getting knocked into puddles by passing cars because it was all old and out of date and its owner had got a new one :(

BoffinMum · 18/01/2011 12:19

I cried too. But then I am Officially Bereaved for a few weeks so I can blame it on that. However really it was because I am a softie.

BoffinMum · 18/01/2011 12:23

NSPCC adverts are actually blardy emotionally manipulative. Their ads imply if you don't dart into your child at the slightest snuffle, or avoid ever telling them off loudly, then they will end up totally traumatised forever. But then the NSPCC has a vested interest in raising funds to support a rapidly expanding, sometimes self-serving child protection 'industry' (remember the Vetting and Barring Scheme outcry?) Tis all big business, that. Plus the NSPCC's leaflets are even worse and put me right off supporting them.

MaybeTomorrow · 18/01/2011 12:23

Don't be too upset about the Butlins Crocodile... Wink

My DH was'Captain Croc' working for Pontins for about a year in his youth. Once the children were tucked up for the night in their rooms, he would get drunk with the rest of the staff! Did look VERY funny though in his outfit. Was over 15 years ago. And he wasn't really sad when the kids went home! Wink

Hope that helps those people who were emotionally effected by the ad! Grin

You can click straight through here:
Great ad, made me cry too.

BikeRunSki · 18/01/2011 12:38

Not seen the Aviva one, but the John Lewis one last year got me every time.

MarniesMummy · 18/01/2011 12:38

Sad Sad.

I like that it doesn't have background music like 'you'll remember me...' drives me crazy.

scrappydappydoo · 18/01/2011 12:44

Dh and I both commented on that ad last night - we both thought it was a little disturbing mostly I think because its Paul Whitehouse and as someone above said you do expect a punchline...

mistressploppy · 18/01/2011 12:45

It doesn't make me cry, but I get a bit upset at that chewing gum advert with the cartoon foods on the escalator; when the little onion gets squished in the lift door.....

emmanana · 18/01/2011 12:50

I cry at the NSPCC ads with the little boy crying alone in the dark, and the girl who leaves home, is snared by a drug dealer etc etc. There was one that used to be on for Cancer research, with a bride saying 'my Mum should be here' (gulp)

However, I would like to punch the Co-Op ad husband very hard. He irritates the shit out of me...

PuppyMonkey · 18/01/2011 12:51

Oh the cancer research mirror one always makes me sob. And the mobile phone one, the one where they sing to people at the airport and the whole place ends up joining in on Welcome Home. Makes me bawl.

I saw that, it was really odd. Comedy, comedy, jolly......dead, I was very Confused. It doesn't hit the right tone for me, just weird.

emmanana · 18/01/2011 12:58

And the British Airways ad where Granny is reunited with the children...

PrincessBoo · 18/01/2011 12:59

Do you work for Aviva PML30?

Blackletterday · 18/01/2011 13:00

I hate that NSPCC one which mentions that so many % of people raped are children. It's an important thing yes, but don't show it at 7/8pm, my dd doesn't even know what sex is, I don't really want to explain child rape yet Sad.

BoffinMum · 18/01/2011 13:05

In the NSPCC's dark little world, all adults are potential abusers or neglecters of children, and nobody should ever trust another human being ever.

It fuels the family interference beast in this country.

camerondiazepam · 18/01/2011 13:07

When BT used to use the ET music, I would be in tears by (I would hazard) 3 seconds in. But then I used to cry at Neighbours fairly regularly.
[emotionally incontinent emoticon]

emmanana · 18/01/2011 13:09

One that always makes me laugh, is the ad (Kalpol?) set in the supermarket, when the mother throws a tantrum, and throws herself on the floor. The face on the little lad sitting in the trolley is priceless! Wonder how many takes they had to do? (and don't you just know how she feels :-) )

BibiBlocksberg · 18/01/2011 13:34

"I got all uspet at the new advert for Butlins, where the big crocodile (dinosaur?) makes a new friend, who leaves him at the end of the week. I kept saying 'But he's been left ALL ALONE' "

Same here and I'm not pregnant :)

So happy when the little girl appeared and made friends with him Grin
