And i couldnt help but think that my DD is so very lucky to have such a caring and approachable teacher. That anyone who thinks that teachers shouldn't be able to physically interact with children in such a way should get a kick up the bum.

Oh and, this is probably a bit UR, because it does make me have a teeeny bit of a crush on him Grin

YANBU. Smile

pommedeterre · 17/01/2011 09:22

Do you mean dropped her off or dropped her on the floor?

PuppyMonkey · 17/01/2011 09:25

Oh yes, pomme I thought this was going to be one of those threads about kids being terribly injured and teachers not noticing and theparent being incensed. Grin.

pastapestofor6 · 17/01/2011 09:25

Oh bugger I thought you were objecting to it and was looking forward to shouting at you (in foul pmt frenzy) in that case YANBU I thank you

MackerelOfFact · 17/01/2011 09:28

Aww. YANBU. I thought this was going to be a "get the kiddy fiddler fired and castrated, men can't possibly be affectionate to children without sinister motives" thread. Lovely that your DDs class love their teacher.

brightlightsandpromises · 17/01/2011 09:30

I tend to think he might be god! If not, he is the bestest teacher in the whole wide world

Are you in Bristol?? My sister has a huge crush on a year 1 teacher there.

brightlightsandpromises · 17/01/2011 17:10

I have also noticed how diabolical the English is in my thread title, hmmmmm, i wonder if he tutors!

My 5 and 7 year old children cuddle their teachers/classroom assistants (not all the time, obviously). I'm so glad the staff feel able to be natural with the children and are appropriately caring given their ages.

brightlightsandpromises · 17/01/2011 17:14

me too onetoomany because i have heard so many stories where the teachers wont do this - although i have never encountered it personally.

What a pleasant surprise! (was also expecting vitriolic kiddyfiddley thread)

Shock at OP not knowing who Richard Armitage is though.

He's MN royalty.....

I used to work in a primary school alongside a fantastic male teacher.

He used to get really uncomfortable when the children tried to cuddle him incase any of the parents thought it "inappropriate". He was such a lovely guy..... i felt so sorry for him always having to be on guard

Eglu · 17/01/2011 17:20

YANBU. I also wish there were more male primary teachers. I had two during my time at primary and one of them was my absolute favourite teacher ever.

DS1 had a male supply teacher last week and loved it.

TanteAC · 17/01/2011 17:26

Some of my youngest students in secondary school do this! (sometimes)Got quite a few hugs or attempted hugs after Christms...

Think most teachers have the common sense to decide what is appropriate (and I don't just been paedo-fear, I mean appropriate to a teacher-pupil relationship.)

Aww. I am so glad he is confident enough to that YANBU

brightlightsandpromises · 17/01/2011 17:27

I had a male teacher at primary school and he had, heaven forfend.............a beard!! I was properly scared of him. I am sure he was lovely but the thought of a male teacher traumatised me. I dont really know why as i was a real daddies girl.

My DD also had a male key worker at nursery, he was lovely too. It is really interesting though to watch the girls because they do become a little flirtatious (obviously not in a sexual way before i get flamed) even at such a young age, its quite sweet really. But the dynamic seems very different with a male teacher, more jokey? Perhaps that just my experience. DDs key worker was quite feminine, but there is nowt feminine about her teacher now, oh no no no!

I had two primary teachers who were male, neither of which I liked.

DSs both have male primary teachers, one is a complete twat, the other is melt in your mouth delightful.

Northernlurker · 17/01/2011 17:42

My dd's school has a male head and male deputy head plus se had a temporary male teacher last year. All of them are brilliant and it makes me think how lucky we are to have that as so many primary schools are so lacking in male teachers.

brightlightsandpromises · 17/01/2011 17:47

nickel - DDs teacher more sid from ceebeebies, but yes i would chuck mr armitage out of bed class!
