And i couldnt help but think that my DD is so very lucky to have such a caring and approachable teacher. That anyone who thinks that teachers shouldn't be able to physically interact with children in such a way should get a kick up the bum.

Oh and, this is probably a bit UR, because it does make me have a teeeny bit of a crush on him Grin

I had the best teacher at primary school, he was so lovely - all the mums fancied him, he wore grey slip on shoes and when he walked around the hall during assembly his heels would clip-clop and I thought (for that reason alone) he was ace Smile When some boys were picking on me (for being 'poor' - nice! Sad) during a residential weekend, he told them off and then held my hand all the way round the walk we were doing.

I found out recently that he died a few years ago, I was so upset - told my mum and she was also gutted by the news!

DD has a male teacher, in his late 40's. He was once a class teacher, now he floats around - PE/French/Substitute - she loves him and I told her that he reminded me of my favourite teacher at school. I said, I was so in love with Mr X . Anyway, turned up at DD's school the next day, very embarrassed looking Mr Y.....DD's teacher said that DD had told Mr Y that I was in love with him Blush I nearly died! I've never yet cleared it up (2 years on) and he always blushes when I see him lol!

Oh and as for Mr.Armitage - phwoooooar! Who's DP has an Uncle that looks like him? Is he single? Can I have his number please? Wink

DD's School has a couple of male teachers as well as male head.
From what i know they all have a good relationship with the kids.

I agree there needs to be more male teachers in primary/nursery.

The head teacher is very firm but fair and all the kids love him (the mums/female teachers also go a bit gaga over him! )

Dh took DD swimming and Head was there with his son who's just a little older than DD.
I asked DD if she had said hello and she told me that Head included her in the fun and games he was having with his DS.

Yes there was physical contact as Head was picking both kids up an launching back in to water as well as making games up for the kids to play together.
Neither DH or i had a problem with this. I just thought it was truly lovely that the head shared his family time with my DD.

I was a Primary school teacher for 11 years, quitting in 1998. I was quite happy to be cuddled by the kids and even give them a little hug myself if they fell over, were upset etc. I was sometimes called 'Dad' (and even 'Mum') accidentally on occasion.

Glad I'm not a teacher these days though: the atmosphere seems so different.
