I become quite apoplectic when forum posts contain the word 'simples' and find myself almost hyperventilating when the last two words of a post are... 'end of'
AIBU?

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 14/01/2011 23:45

Yes ..End of

gibbberish · 14/01/2011 23:46

Yanbu. Absolutely not.

curlymama · 14/01/2011 23:47

I don't mind simples, so much, but I don't like it either.

'End of', I find really rude. Like nobody else is entiled to post a different opinion after that because the 'end of' poster thinks they are the almighty one with superior knowledge on everything.

AgentZigzag · 14/01/2011 23:48

It's a bit too 'I have the answer and have spoken' which on a forum like MN is laughable really.

eaglewings · 14/01/2011 23:50

Chillax wolly

eaglewings · 14/01/2011 23:51

or rather wooly sorry its late!

Well, if it gets to you that much then you probably need some more stress in your life (on the same principle as stubbing your toe to get rid of a headache).

Or, possibly, you have lots of stress already but can't vent it so this is how it is manifesting itself.

Basically it is really not worth getting cross about, different people comminicate differently. I read "end of" to mean that is the way they see a subject and they are not to be swayed on it rather than meaning they are correct and no-one should argue. Simples Wink

ChippingIn · 15/01/2011 00:04

Discuss - annoys me far more.

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 00:07

OMG Chippingin I just logged in to say that. It really winds me up....like an instruction from someone who thinks they're a cut above the rest lol.

AgentZigzag · 15/01/2011 00:09

Saying discuss at the end of an OP just brings me out in a post exam cold sweat.

usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 00:09

Gavel ...pisses me off

AgentZigzag · 15/01/2011 00:14

Gavel's usually used at the end of a tongue in cheek judgement though, and only seems to be used by those who're qualified to use it.

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 00:14

Lol zigzag it just makes me want to tell them to shove it up their arse for some strange reason.

What does 'Gavel' mean?

Sidge · 15/01/2011 00:15

I can't bear 'end of' or 'rant over'.

They just make me cringe.

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 00:21

I don't mind 'rant over' so much but while we're on the subject...I really hate it when someone joins a thread just to say 'Yawn...heard it all before'

I mean they might have heard it all before but MN doesn't revolve around them does it...and maybe other people haven't heard it all before?

usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 00:22

trust me mutz we have heard it all before

AgentZigzag · 15/01/2011 00:26

Yawning and they've just realised they spend too much time on here.

I don't like it when OPs put (long) in the title of their threads, usually they're not that long relatively, and I feel sorry for them feeling they've got to apologise for spilling their guts.

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 00:26

Yeah but that's not the point is it usual? Just cos you have...doesn't mean newbies haven't...or maybe someone just wants to discuss something with different posters. The whole 'We've heard it all before' just makes the OP think the site is run by regulars surely?

Personally I couldn't give a rat's arse if someone has heard it all before, there are plenty of other threads for them to read.

Lovecat · 15/01/2011 00:28

End of does my head in.

The other one that irritates me is 'as you were' - like the poster was some line of schoolmistress looking around the classroom door to make sure we were playing nicely. It just reads as arrogant to me.

usualsuspect · 15/01/2011 00:29

Maybe mutz ...I dunno some newbies seem to know what threads to start to get a rise though [cynical]

GreenEyesandHam · 15/01/2011 00:30

just means 'I'm Judge and Jury, and I decree................ NEXT!!!'

But in a tongue and cheek, piss take kinda way.

I think Grin

ILovedYou · 15/01/2011 00:32

Rude if not responding to a impolite comment

so on those grounds

YANBU

mutznutz · 15/01/2011 00:32

True Usual but I just want to twat anyone who takes the time to post 'Yawn' Lol...surely their wonderful words of wisdom could be better spent Wink

Oh thanks Greeneyes I have honestly never come across that phrase in all my years on the internet.

Sidge · 15/01/2011 00:33

I also can't abide 'fetch the hard hat and popcorn'. It's very patronising.
