If your post isn't interacting with customers, then my view is that you can have any hair colour, clothes, piercings and tattoos that you want and it is nothing to do with anyone at work. Take the chance and go for it if you fancy it, before long you'll be 40 and will worry it just looks sad.

ScotlandR · 13/01/2011 16:54

YANBU.

Your DDs will LOVE it!!!

Bearskinwoolies · 13/01/2011 16:56

YADNBU - go for it!

elephantjelly · 13/01/2011 16:56

If it is what you want then now is the time to do it.

Dillinger · 13/01/2011 17:02

Im 28 and a sahm, desperate to dye my hair bright red and shave some of it off but dont have the balls lol I also dont want to spend years wanting to but worrying about it, and then being older and wishing Id just done it!

You can always dye it back cant you!

prettymaryk · 13/01/2011 17:04

my tongue piercing has trashed my teeth :( still don't regret it though.

prettymaryk · 13/01/2011 17:04

dill - being a sahm is the perfect time to do whatever you feel like appearance-wise :)

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 13/01/2011 17:06

oh yes definitely do it. i helped my sister dye the ends of her hair pink and it looked amazing. as long your employer wont kick up a stink.

Dillinger · 13/01/2011 17:09

Prettymaryk - thats what Im thinking... plus its only hair right? Grin

I want to do something, Im a bit bored you know?

sausagerolemodel · 13/01/2011 17:11

That's the great thing about hair - you can dye over the top of it if you don't like the colour and it grows back if you don't like the cut! I did the same as you at about the same age (mad hair, piercings etc and I'm glad I did because I'm rapidly approaching 40 and the same things just look a little sad now.

(rather oddly, I removed all my piercings when my dad died 2 years ago (even though none were "on show"), and never put them back in. )

QuintessentialShadows · 13/01/2011 17:13

Oh, you must really love Lazy Town!

prettymaryk · 13/01/2011 17:14

i regularly have irresistible urges to dye/pierce/tattoo and i'm rapidly approaching 40, afraid it doesn't wear off, so you may as well give in to it sooner rather than later :)

prettymaryk · 13/01/2011 17:16

lol sausage they don't look sad to me, although i have lately gone uncharacteristically brunette that goes hand in hand with a vintage phase. can't imagine i'm ever going to give in to ageing gracefully...

theevildead2 · 13/01/2011 17:18

WHat about doing just a bit of the front? Face framing or part of your fringe?

I used to have bright pink too.. but don't think it was something I'd have considered after 18/19 tbh. But that is just me. Wouldn't jusdge some else for it

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 13/01/2011 17:19

Ohh do it!

I used to always have a rainbow of colours on my head, i loved it!

Just be careful though because i did mine a few too many times and ended up with horrible brittle hair.

0karen · 13/01/2011 17:21

LOl not seen lazy town for ages!

My DDs will be jealous, they too want their hair pink, I would think their school would ban them if they turned up with pink hair and my parents would file for custody

my parents will go mad when I get mine done

YANBU
But be warned: The dye will come out asll over your bed clothes/collars/bathroom. Grin
This is what stops me dying my hair electric blue again. I can' tbe arsed with the cleaning and washing and blue ears

TheVisitor · 13/01/2011 17:25

I dyed mine purple at the grand old age of 40. Grin Make sure you vaseline your face, ears and neck before you do it!

prettymaryk · 13/01/2011 17:25

heh wot, you just reminded me about fresh dye running in the rain, not a good look...

TattyDevine · 13/01/2011 17:32

Do it.

Pink and red pigments wash out something chronic. Prepare to re-do it a fair bit OR have it a washed out looking pink within a few weeks. This isn't necessarily a problem though.

If you have long hair and you are regularly having to re-dye it using hydrogen peroxide and/or ammonia, it might take its toll on the condition.

But this should not be a reason not to do it as such...if you feel its headed that way, then you can go back to a less high-maintenance base colour.

If you are having to pre-lighten to get the right shade of pink, this will be more of an issue. What is your natural base colour?

0karen · 13/01/2011 17:50

WoTmania, prettymaryk and TattyDevine, Have just put me off, I have hair half way down my back, wishing for waist length hair but it refuses to grow that long without splitting

I got another hole in my ear just after christmas (so 4 piercings in that ear now) and my Mum said I was too old for that sort of carry on, lol. I'm 30.

TattyDevine · 13/01/2011 17:54

Its true about the colour coming out over things. If I break a sweat (gross) then my colour, which is a rather boring red mahogany (think Cheryl Cole) actually bleeds onto my pillowcase/collar/whatever.

And I have my own hair towel

Never been a problem with my usual chocolate brown with highlights (yes, I am Cheryl Cole haha) - but this new colour is a bitch like that!
