Ooh Strawberry Sam I love it. Wow.

Now thinking I am a bit boring with my Cheryl Cole Red.

Hmm.

Mine is l'oreal feria scarlet power at the moment but not as bright as it is on the box as my hair is normally a mid brown. Id like to go bright red but all the re-bleaching etc would prob get on my nerves, I dont mind so much the re-dying but having to do that also makes it sound like a much longer process? I guess you get used to it after a while maybe.

Hmmm

i always did a temp dye over a permanent, the perm has enough peroxide to act as a base for the temp colour to take. i briefly bleached to yellow/white but honestly i never found it took that much better. bung a directions temp over the top dill, it'll look fab for a couple of weeks at least :)

actually i have in front of me a couple of pots of directions pink (flamingo?) and one of red (poppy?) of unknown vintage, will go unused, anyone want them?

Oh StrawberrySam you look great

work would not mind but when I play tennis or we go bike riding or skiing, then it sounds as if it would be a problem

I'm a CM and I had pink streaks put in my hair just before Christmas. I have always wanted them and I LOVE them.

Mindees haven't even noticed!

They are fading now though after four weeks but I don't regret it.

Xales · 13/01/2011 19:23

Most of my hair is black but I have 2 chunks bleached which I dye whatever colour I am in the mood for. I tend to get the roots bleached every 6 months ago as naturally very dark and they don't show too much with the rest being black.

I use the crazy colour range by renbow. Generally I use the sky blue or the pinkissimo. Sometimes a few of the other colours.

The blue fades and has to be re-applied pretty much weekly however the pink lasts much longer. They don't have peroxide etc and so don't damage my hair as much. I only have bleed when very hot and sweaty.

Oh and I am 42 and work in accounts lol

Go for it. If you don't like or bugger it up it is easy to go over.

I am an old woman of 36 and I have pink hair and tattoos. I feel more like me with pink hair. I use Directions and Manic Panic. The Beeunique website v good for colours.

DO IT!!!

It's so cool. Smile and put piccies up too.

IvantaOuiOui · 13/01/2011 19:49

Be warned, your bathroom will be forever pink, as will your pillowcases. But old ladies and children will admire your lovely hair.

WoTmania · 13/01/2011 19:52

Ivanta - Good point. I worked in a bakery when my hair was blue/pink/green/whatever tookmyfancythatweek and the 'more mature ladies' loved it.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 13/01/2011 19:52

go for it
I went purple a couple of years back but beong purple it looked fab for about two weeks then all the blue runs out and the red sticks...to my origonally bleached blonde hair(so I looked pale orangey manky) took me ages to sort it, thats the only thing that stops me doing it again Grin

IvantaOuiOui · 13/01/2011 19:55

also you will get sarcastic women (playground mums in my case) saying "ooh, you're very brave."

DMCWelshCakes · 13/01/2011 19:55

Not just me then. Am currently PG but am giving serious thought to pink or purple hair while on mat leave.

Hair is naturally strawberry blonde. Will I be able to just dye straight on top of it? And how much dye do you need if your hair is almost waist length?

(Can you tell it's YEARS since I dyed my hair?)

IvantaOuiOui · 13/01/2011 19:57

if it is quite light, you cn dye over it - do a strand test. For very long hair you may need 3-4 pots. I dyed someones waist length hair pink and purple in stripes once and I needed two pots of each colour.

MoonGirl1981 · 13/01/2011 20:03

I have pink hair and tattoos (am 30). Have had it for ages.

Wouldn't change it.

Naturally blonde so it dyes well and Directions dye washes out of sheets and clothes.

I work in a nursing home and have to cover it with a scarf at work because 'it might scare the residents'. Out of work everyone loves it. Especially females under ten and over seventy.

sjm123 · 13/01/2011 20:08

I'm 34 and though hair is currently blonde it has in recent years n purple, black with red bits, black with blue bits and black with green bits. When I was younger I must have gone through every colour in the rainbow.

Go for it, it's your hair :)

Oh, and as reds and pinks do indeed fade (at least they do on my bloody hair) I always used to mix a little semi-perm cream colour (manic panic or la riche directions) in with a conditioning treatment once a week and it kept the colour really nice for aaaaages :)
