Our little boy was born sleeping in March 2007 :( He was full term. We got to spend about 12 hours with him.

Since then we have fundraised and worked with a company to produce a piece of equipment that will allow bereaved parents of babies to spend a little more time with their precious baby. It's been a long time coming but is finally being delivered to our local maternity unit the week after next. There will be others in other hospitals too :)

The development was inspired by Our Little Man and I am so proud.

I know this is the wrong place but where else?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/01/2011 20:12

Well done you! Can you link to more info on the equipment so if we ever need to point someone in the right direction we can

SnailWhaleTail · 12/01/2011 20:13

Well done you for taking something so positive from your experience and best wishes to you for the future development of your equipment.

What smashing parents you are.

montymum · 12/01/2011 20:13

Shout it loud and be proud of what you have achieved. Out of such sadness to think of other people and their feelings and do something about it you should be really proud of yourselves Smile

independiente · 12/01/2011 20:18

Another one here who is full of admiration for what you've managed to do after such a terrible experience. You're amazing.

mamsnet · 12/01/2011 20:24

What a lovely thing to do.. I'm sure you will make a difference to many very sad people.

frozenfestiveflo · 12/01/2011 20:25

The story ....
we are doers, and wanted to do something in Jacob's memory.

We did much research and although there is something else avainlable it is not nice to look at and frankly we felt (along with the bereavement midwife) that it was more than a bit clinical :( So I contacted everyone I could possibly think of, asked a million questions and after many months came up with something we thought would work. The director of the company has been amazing.

It's been trialled and tweaked and the week after next it will arrive in our hospital. It has a plaque attached to say it was inspired by my boy and funded by our fundraising.

It is my boy's legacy - his little mark on the world.
I would love for there to be no need, but as there is I truly hope it can bring a small something to parents in such an awful place, as we have passed through.
