Our little boy was born sleeping in March 2007 :( He was full term. We got to spend about 12 hours with him.

Since then we have fundraised and worked with a company to produce a piece of equipment that will allow bereaved parents of babies to spend a little more time with their precious baby. It's been a long time coming but is finally being delivered to our local maternity unit the week after next. There will be others in other hospitals too :)

The development was inspired by Our Little Man and I am so proud.

I know this is the wrong place but where else?

WOW, you have a right to feel so proud - well done you for making something positive from a horrible experience. Im so sorry that Jacob is not with you Sad

tigitigi · 14/01/2011 00:47

Your lovely little boy will have a huge impact on the lives of (sadly far too)many people.

Congratulations on taking something positive from such a tragic situation.

Frozen - Wow, that is fantastic. I'm so sorry that Jacob died, but what an amazing positive thing to come from his death.

I wish we'd have had something like that when my DS1 died soon after birth six years ago. Instead we were given ice packs to put in a crib with him Sad

May i ask which hospital it will be at, and are there plans for any more to be sent to other hospitals?

trumpton · 26/01/2011 08:57

What a wonderful thing you have done.

TheGrumpalo · 26/01/2011 08:59

moonbells · 26/01/2011 09:34

Blubbing here too. You have done a wonderful thing, and my sympathies to you and all of you who have lost a baby like this.

My prayers are with you

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 26/01/2011 09:42

How thoughtful and kind of you, and what a sensitively presented product. How amazing you are to make something this good come out of something so tragic.

On a practical note - is this something hospitals have to fundraise for or is it something they can 'easily' afford and will want to do so. It would be so lovely if it could be standard equipment in every maternity ward but I don't know what that would take.

(((Goingdownhill))) so sorry for your loss.

frozenfestiveflo · 26/01/2011 09:44

It is very very affordable approx £1500 and annual maintenance costs of about £25!

Well done frozen, you can be very proud of yourself.

My friends baby girl was born sleeping in July 2007. I know she took some comfort that the room she was placed in was so well thought out and soothing.

She later found out that the room had been designed and paid for by another grieving Mum and Dad who had lost their baby girl at birth at the hospital.

So very sorry to hear about the loss of Jacob x

A very sad story and I'm sorry for your loss, but a wonderful outcome that will benefit many other parents. Congrats and thank you. x

chelstonmum · 01/02/2011 11:45

Im sitting here 7weeks pregnant and sobbing.

What an amazing set of parents Jacob was blessed with. To have the kindness and heart to help others is truly remarkable. Sadly, so many families will benefit from this technology in coming years, but you have gifted them precious memories they would never have had before. x
