To think that this young lady was rude and intimidating tsk, tsk

Now I'm a new and at the same elderly member of this great British Establishment but I had a distressing experience a couple of days ago which I felt that I just must share.

Now I popped into my local public house for a breakfast which including a steaming cup of tea. Nothing like a nice steaming cup of tea in the morning. Anyway I digress. After paying for said cup of tea I was carrying it to my table when I heard a shout of 'Watch out!'. I looked around baffled, I mean this is a nice establishment one doesn't expect to hear people shouting. It was then that I saw a small child toddling around on the floor infront of me. I realised that the dreadful shouting was coming from a young woman standing nearby presumbably this child's mother. We had what I felt was a reasonably civilised conversation and I went to my table.

Then what do I hear behind me but 'clomp, clomp, clomp'. She was following me readers! I quickened my step and put my head down. I mean this is a nice establishment you just don't expect this sort of thing here!

Am I being unreasonable to think that this young lady was extremely rude and needs to learn to respect her elders! Toodle pip for now. Yours shaken but not stirred.

Mrs D Oddery

a) Threads about threads are rude
b) Wetherspoons is not 'nice'

ChickensAreFlyingUnderTheRadar · 12/01/2011 11:17

Oh, Mrs. Doddery. I think you behaved with dignity and refinement in a difficult situation. I bet she said 'convenience' a lot too. I know the type

Takeresponsibility · 12/01/2011 11:36

Mrs Oddery

You have already been warned about visiting the local Gin Palace, and now I hear you have been trampling on young children and picking fights with the locals within this establishment.

It is also noted that your little finger was not at the correct angle whilst consuming your beverage.

Please accept this as your final warning. Any further incidents of this nature will result in your permanent exclusion from this club.

Regards

The Secretary
West Country Society for Senior Ladies of Refinement and Gentility.

il have you know I am un married woman, I will not be called a Mrs for anything! perish the thought I would allow myself to become the property of a mere man!!!

Mrs1D2Oddery · 12/01/2011 11:45

Humble apologies mrs responsibility. Not that I trampled on any children mind, nor did I pick any fights. As Mrs Chickens said I was rather dignified and refined.

Ooooh and thank you for the biscuits Mrs Potter I'll dunk one in my tea now.

Mrs Puffin I'm not quite sure what you are getting at. The young lady was certainly rude, Weatherspoons is a nice place but people like her spoil it, tsk, tsk and tsk.

I've read this and the other thread and all I can ask is...

Is there no cafes in your town....???

It would never occur to me to take myself and my children to Wetherspoons for a coffee of a morning...

Mrs1D2Oddery · 12/01/2011 11:47

Mrs Lequeen there is not a lot to do in Devon in January. The local nudist beach is not open for starters and it would be a bit chilly even if it was. And as I have said I like a nice brew in the morning.

The Cafes are full of squares like Mrs Responsibility as is the day centre.
