She's half-inched my debit card

My darn baby has rifled through my wallet and stolen my debit card and £25. And my nectar card. May be she's going on a shopping spree in Sainers? It's been 3 days now. I've checked in all the obvious places, plus her toy box and in the DVD player.

Where would a 13-month old hide something? I only live in a small London flat. Seriously, I need suggestions! I am rubbish at looking for things.

Also I had this really uncomfortable lump in my boot this morning and it turned out to be a piece of cheese, FGS.

Is it just me or are babies WEIRD?

Inside any electrical appliance at all?

My eldest DS once hid his dad's car keys inside the top of the piano. DH looked frantically everywhere, eventually phoned school (DS was 4) and asked them to ask DS if he'd seen said keys. About 10 minutes later, the reply came back: "J says haven't you looked inside the piano yet?" Little bugger!!!Grin

You could try crawling around with your eyes at her level and see what lovely looking gaps and slots appear before you...It might all look different from down there.

I say that because some of the suggestions of gaps and slots are ones that i never knew existed from my height..

But things do just disappear forever. Moving house never solves the mysteries of lost (big) items that I think it will.

The only time my odd places get a good going-over (ooerr missus) is when I have lost something and have to go to the back and bottom of every drawer.

This is hilarious! I love "have you looked inside the piano yet, daddy?" like it's an obvious place to look. Kenobi is right, children ARE weird!

FWIW, DD didn't do much posting of things, but aged 2 and a half decided to tipex all over my mothers cheese plant... She'd seen me tipexing and had assumed it made things disappear.

Dear friend has lost three mobile phones this way. All of them turned up when they moved and fell out of a hole in the bottom of the sofa!!!

Ds likes to "post" old credit cards we have given him in between and under the dvd player and amp. I have found all sorts under there Hmm

At least DS (2 1/2) gives a bit of a running commentary these days, doesn't explain why he's doing it but hearing 'putting mummy's camera in the bin...' gives me a chance to rescue it.

blackeyedsusan · 12/01/2011 23:29

back of speakers?

welshbyrd · 13/01/2011 09:55

Another cracker Ive just thought of, my nephew used to post things out the letterbox, if this was the case, im sure you would have come across the items, whilst in and out

My sister used to get funny looks off the postman, he would post letters, and nephew would post the back out

mutznutz · 13/01/2011 10:06

Grin @ takeresponsibility why do I find that scenario so easy to picture!

differentnameforthis · 13/01/2011 11:12

Video/dvd player?

juneybean · 13/01/2011 11:33

Takeresponsibility Grin we'll see that just now on Little Britain, just you wait!

kenobi · 13/01/2011 11:37

Last night I:

checked mysterious gap under skirting board
Failed to check behind sofa as no torch and not strong enough to pull sofa out. DH will have to do this one.

washing machine

cupboard where we keep the tins as she is obsessed with pulling them out and putting them in again

Under various kitchen appliances

Under cot

Under massive and ridiculously heavy chest of drawers in sitting room

Then got fed up and drank wine Blush

Stupidly I didn't check in the dirty washing basket which is one of her favourite things, so am quite excited about that. She's rather under the weather at the moment (in vile mood and with Ds and Vs) so haven't yet given her another credit card to see what she did with it.

So tonight it's all about the sofa and washing!

Thank you again everyone!

Did you ever find it kenobi?

kenobi · 17/01/2011 12:48

I wish that I had some decent closure after everyone's help but no, it's vanished. Plus that bloody £25.

Time to order another debit card, boo.
