She's half-inched my debit card

kenobi · 12/01/2011 10:54

My darn baby has rifled through my wallet and stolen my debit card and £25. And my nectar card. May be she's going on a shopping spree in Sainers? It's been 3 days now. I've checked in all the obvious places, plus her toy box and in the DVD player.

Where would a 13-month old hide something? I only live in a small London flat. Seriously, I need suggestions! I am rubbish at looking for things.

Also I had this really uncomfortable lump in my boot this morning and it turned out to be a piece of cheese, FGS.

Is it just me or are babies WEIRD?

And then there's the teenage years to look forward to...........

seeker · 12/01/2011 13:58

.....when "half-inching the debit card" will mean something completely different!

kenobi · 12/01/2011 13:58

Yes, everyone keeps on telling me that 11-18 months is a bit of a golden age and it gets harder again after that, particularly the terrible twos.

I shall just have to be more organised and not leave my possession littered everywhere. Sigh.

I used to 'liberate' the odd fiver from mum's purse to buy tat as a teen. I am absolutely horrified by my pikey teenage self now. Blush

Dial 999 - it's a slippery slope..

robino · 12/01/2011 14:01

Mine once emptied my purse and when I got to the till to pay in the shop all I had was two pairs of socks in there.....

SacharissaCripslock · 12/01/2011 14:15

My youngest likes to hide stuff in the computer - in the expansion bay thingumys.

loveulotslikejellytots · 12/01/2011 14:28

BEBA may sound like peppa? Like peppa pig. This is what my niece used to call peppa pig. Anything pig related that your DD could hide it in?

Fimbo · 12/01/2011 14:34

My nephew put my sil's wedding ring in one of those piggy bank things you can only smash to get the money out of. He had it for years before he decided to do this and sil had a new ring.

kenobi · 12/01/2011 14:42

oh my GOD loveulots, you've outed me.

I am pretty sure it is beba as in peppa pig. I am really embarrassed that one of her first words is from the TV Blush

And she does have a peppa pig car so maybe I should investigate that...

robino, did they accept the socks?

I spent half an hour last night at bedtime searching desperately for my contact lens case. Someone had posted it into the sleeve of my dressing gown.

Sidge · 12/01/2011 14:50

My girls used to post Flat Things (such as credit card, important post and Sky card) under the TV, between the base of the TV and the unit it stands on.

I had to regularly lift the TV off the stand to check underneath, which was no mean feat as it is an old CRT one the size of Devon and weighs more than I do I think...

KangarooCaught · 12/01/2011 14:56

The wii repairer sent back an assortment of play money, the sky card & assorted cards from dh's wallet.

cocoachannel · 12/01/2011 15:06

Dirty washing basket..?

robino · 12/01/2011 16:13

kenobi, fortunately DH was with me and I didn't need to check out the exchange rate on two pairs of small socks Wink

Go · 12/01/2011 16:18

Piano stool? Just wondered as that's where DS hid my purse once (he was being the Numbertaker from Numberjacks). I thought I must have dropped it coming back from the shops, so cancelled all cards, reported it to the police etc, bought a new purse ... found it about 3 months later when DD wanted to have a go on the ancient piano that we never always use!

TandB · 12/01/2011 16:51

[decides mutznutz is an unsung genius and starts following her around hoping for more tips]

Takeresponsibility · 12/01/2011 16:59

Kungfupanda and mutznutz

Picture this:

Woman gets on bus, big queue behind her, rummages in huge tote bag, takes off sunglasses, rummages some more queue behing grumbling and shuffling theuir feet, some tourists (foreigners- don't know how to queue) start trying to push in, fight ensues, all behind oblivious womans back. She's still rummaging - finally pulls baby out of tote bag, hold him to machine "beep", popsa him back in back and serenely glides her way to seat. Camera pans back to absolute mayhem on pavement - "kapow" "boosh" big fight, dust clouts, arms and legs sticking out....

kenobi · 12/01/2011 17:30

Go, love your idea but my flat IS about the size of a piano so a lack of stools alas!
Take, I think it would work perfectly. Except it'd be a bugger holding DS onto the swiper when you wanted to top him up.

Fridge? Definitely rubbish bin. Under mattresses/pillows? In coat pockets? On window sill behind curtain/blinds? In the side of drawer slots?

amysaidno · 12/01/2011 19:00

In the washing machine!

gleechie · 12/01/2011 19:01

My DD put my card in the Wii slot!!

plupervert · 12/01/2011 22:29

Oh, yes, forgot about the washing machine! Make sure to check the drawers, too! And the wash bags.

AllSheepareWhite · 12/01/2011 22:40

Inside shoes
Inside the printer (just found 10 puzzle pieces in mine today!)
Inside any small container
Down the back/side of sofa, dryer, washing machine, fridge/freezer, cooker
In the washing basket
Inside snowsuit/fleecy suit
Inside the potty
In the bottom of the buggy (DD put plasticine and a rolling pin inside hers once when DH went to ELC)
Under shelves or any furniture
Inside low cupboards
In the bin
In the cot
Inside toys

Uh oh just had a thought - do you have floorboards?
