Suppose this is the wrong place to come for hugs, but I do like it here.

I've been bleeding on and off for a few weeks and had strange symptoms, fluttery stomach, pains in my bum and back, now my shoulder is killing me.

Got to ring for an emergency drs appointment tomorrow for the afternoon and I'm so scared.

I really, really am scared of being examined and what they might say. I'm crying just thinking about being examined. I'm such a baby Blush

I'd phone NHS24, just to be on the safe side and put your mind at rest. Good luck and hope you get some answers. I have to say I think the shoulder pain is worth getting checked out pronto: it might be nothing serious but better safe than sorry, eh? And remember, the whole point of the health service is that they are there to look after people. Which includes you. Let us know how it goes. Is your DH with you now?

If anyone else can describe what is meant by shoulder tip pain, I'd be grateful.

I feel ok and able to wait until tomorrow, it is all very odd though.

How on earth can I be examined when I'm still bleeding? Surely that can't happen?

It makes me want to die with embarrassment. Sorry, can't sleep.

In the circumstances you've described I don't think an internal examination will be the priority. They may do a blood test or whatever. If you are still worried please contact NHS24.

Better safe than sorry!

I think you really DO need to rule out ectopic from what you have posted. Worry about other stuff afterwards.

Told you about google :( DOES NOT HELP

I have lupus, and it's got symptoms of everything - it's fun in that way, it likes to shake things up Hmm It's not too easy to diagnose either, and while I was still in the early stages I was fairly confident I was dying of brain or bowel cancer or both.

Then I got a weird white lump on the inside of my nose.

When you start worrying that you are dying of nose cancer, you either collapse into a schism of hypochondria or learn that Google is not your friend.

TBF, the complete insistence of the medical profession that I should not be tested for lupus because I was 'the wrong age' (despite the fact that both my dad and his sister have lupus, and my dad lost his leg to it...) meant that I was more scared than I should have been for longer than I should have been.

Ask your doctor for reassurance. Tell him "I am very anxious about these symptoms. Please can you reassure me that I have nothing to worry about".

Make sure you drink enough water, try and eat lightly and early (I know it's horribly forboding, but if you intuitively think something is seriously wrong, it is better to be prepared in case you are right) and if you think pregnancy is a real possibility, pee on a stick as early as possible. If it's positive CALL AN AMBULANCE.

I don't want to scare you. Please remember, it's unlikely to be serious, even if it feels scary, and you feel like you are amassing symptoms by the minute.

Even if it's serious, it's likely to be treatable. And worrying only makes it worse - it's the placebo effect in reverse.

Much love and good juju heading your way
xxxxxxx

I have that exact sort of shoulder pain often. Years ago I had an accident and wrenched it, and it has never been the same since.
I would hazard a guess that your shoulder pain is probably connected to your going to the gym the first day. With myself, even sleeping on it, will agitate my shoulder. I find the shoulder tip pain is helped by using cold packs on it. If you were not bleeding I would say to take an inflammatory like Aspirin, but better stick to Tylenol with the bleeding, in case you need to have a D&C. Wearing a sling to hold your arm close to your body may help too. life.familyeducation.com/emergency/first-aid/48245.html

Could you be starting menopause?
Pain in bottom, could be hemorrhoids?
Try and not worry about getting checked by the doctor. They examine many people daily and it is routine to them.
Good luck.

Good Luck Scaredy Dog. Hope it goes OK today. I have cystic breast disease and have to be checked/have the lumps aspirated once a year and absolutely dread it. I make myself do it for the sake of the children - if it were not for them I would accept the slightly increased risks. Can you do it for the children and think of them while you do it.

I'm sure your doctor will be very nice and kind.

Morning, how are you? Hope you managed to get some sleep. I'm off to work in a bit but will keep my fingers crossed for you today and will pop in to see how you're doing.

Best of luck, and let us know how you get on x

Good luck today. Try and do a pregnancy test before you go. If you are near me I will come with you for support if you want. Have to take the kids to school soon but after that I am not doing anything that can't wait.

I'm really overwhelmed by your kindness, truly I am.

IAmReallyFabNow you are so very kind. My DP will come with me but thank you so much for your kindness.

I have an appointment at 5.20pm this afternoon.

I haven't told DP my fears about an ectopic, he does think I'm over reacting and whatever it is will be treatable and I'm worrying too much, he has a point but I am just very frightened.

I am working at the moment, shoulder is still a little painful but less so than last night and I'm not in any terrible pain, just a period cramp feeling and weird pops, bubbles and gurgles coming from down there! Will get to the shop to get a test but I don't think seven hours is going to make much difference.

I'm not so worried about being examined now, sod's law - I just want someone to tell me I'll be ok and I'm not going to die of something horrible.

Please do a pregnancy test now. If it's positive go straight to A&E. Anything else can probably wait until 5.20pm.

Hope all goes well for you.

Hi Scaredy, I had an ectopic that ruptured a few years ago. I got the shoulder tip pain, it happens when the tube has ruptured and you have an internal bleed. If your shoulder pain was been caused by a ruptured ectopic you would definately know about it by now.

You should still definitely get checked out asap though x

DP has gone to buy a test. I'm just so scared I've got cervical cancer. I could deal with just about anything else. I'm in a right old mess.

Is the 5pm appt the earliest they could do? I'd be asking for one sooner tbh, just for peace of mind.

IAmReallyFabNow · 12/01/2011 11:08

I hope the test is positive and the doctor can put your mind at rest. I was worried I had cervical cancer as I had a lot of the symptoms. My GP said there would be more signs if I did have it and the symptoms wouldn't have gone on so long. I sometimes still worry but only in the I don't want to leave my kids way.

Good luck.

scardy i had very similar symptoms and convinced myself it was ovarian cancer, turned out i had veins near my cervix that were bleeding and needed to be cortorised[sp].
i had also had a letter back after my smear saying they couldnt get a proper result for the bleeding.
before i was treated the nurse who did my smear put the wooden stick thing in and a cup load of blood spilled out, she said "oh dear you really need to see someone" thats when i started googling. hope it goes well.
