My husband and I know a group of people, who are all friends and increasingly have some intersting Hmm ideas to say the least. They all belong to a certain religion and consider themselves rather enlightened.

Well, it increasingly is becoming evident that one of their ideas is that you are more of a woman (yes wait for this) IF you have a natural birth so when they announce the birth of a child it goes like this.....

Mother and baby all very very very well. All natural water birth with no pain relief and then goes on about how well the mother did. And a few details about the baby.

I just find this odd.

Also one of them (actually my s i l) wrote to me (wait for this!!!) to say I had a section as I had not tried hard enough HmmShock Myself and my child nearly died as I got to ten cm then had to have a crash section. Who deems themselves in a higher position to write to another mother along this vein? I was devastated but now am just F*d off. I went on to have two more sections in quick succession each time shortly after receiving a text of her births - ie no pain relief, all natural blah blah.

Comes across as proud and conceited.

ignore me really just venting but it DOES piss me off.

aside from anything else considering we have a shitty relationship and our house and extension are very very modest, asking to come over is cheeky its hardly a massive extension its made our tiny house a little larger, thats all! But then it is all about looks Hmm

OP, firstly, they are mental and I feel so sorry for you that you have to deal with this shit. If there was a god, he/she/it/they would be disgusted by people like them. Secondly, someone needs to have a stern word with them about the disgusting way they're dealing with the club foot issue. If they refuse to do anything about it, they are setting him up for a lifetime of problems (and, sadly, probably rudeness from others). My brother was born with a club foot and a specialist showed my parents special exercises and massage moves they could do on his foot between physio treatments. They did them all the time and when others held him, they had to do them too (even little me!). His foot was completely 'normal' before he was 3 and he has always been very sporty and fit (his ankle is a bit weak on that side, that's all). I contrast this with a guy I was at Uni with who had a club foot and was very physically restricted by it, as well as feeling ugly, shy, unattractive, etc. His parents were Born-Again Christians who had been ashamed by it and refused to get it treated, saying he was being punished for a sin from a past generation or some bollocks like that. Hmm

You could always tip off SS about the treatment of their children. After that gets round the cult group they would hopefully show a little more meek understanding.

They are coming round to nose and see if they have to keep up with you and your lovely extension. I would fail to arrange a definite time, it's your home and you are entitled to feel comfortable.

And you are right about the birthday party, give him loads of indulgent presents and turn up after the god stuff.

What religion is it - the church of arrogance?

blackeyedsusan · 12/01/2011 00:22

scorpette... not all christians are like that you know...but goodness me you get some people with silly ideas!

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 12/01/2011 00:25

But they are using the religion as a form of judgement, not worshipping god surely?

Stac2011 · 12/01/2011 00:29

you poor thing having to put up with ignorant self rightoeus twats like that. My first birth was vaginal using ventous and i was close to hemoraging due to having a large baby. My 2nd was an ecs due to gestational diabetes. Surely the fact that you and your children are well is the issue. Not someone who would put them and or their child at risk so that its 'natural'. Statistic prove these interventions work, i'd love to see her faced with that dilema. Just out of curiosity would they accept a woman who had a cs into their church/group?

What horrifying people hide their own child? I worked with people with mental health problems a girl had schizophrenia and her family believed she didnt need medication just water to cleanse her. Your dh must be disgusted in their actions too.

I certainly would only go to the candle blowing part, get your kids hyped up and run amok. Since theirs are all perfect they wont like it

If you don't want to avoid sending a gift to the latest 'natural birth' then find a natural gift. Something recycled like an old babygrow of your own kids as surely anyone who feels so strongly about nature/natural stuff would prefer that. But all in all get shot of there cruel pathetic fools and good luck

Dreya · 12/01/2011 00:31

When they arrive get you dh to pull down his trousers and boxer shorts and stand proudly with his manhood on display and a big grin on his face.

Then say whoops darling - they meant the "other extension"......

They probably won't come back.

binfull you just made me spit my creme egg all over my keyboard! And then snot everywhere with the pom bear thing. Off to clean up now...

demisemiquaver · 12/01/2011 00:35

do these folk really exist???????????
pity their kids if so .......

dispondantandthensome · 12/01/2011 00:39

SADLY i am not making this up without a WORD of a lie

Truth is stranger than fiction as they say

I hope they're not hiding their son's feet from medical professionals who would help them. Is he in casts now? If it's only a positional clubfoot then exercises are fine, but he may even need surgery. Early intervention is really important here.
