My DS is named after someone famous Blush

I dunno. DC2 is due to arrive this year and I've already suggested to my wife that he be named after one of the Ashes winning squad. Vetoed immediately, needless to say.

Ds2 was named because of a footballer. He was 2 weeks old and still "baby" when a footballer came on telly. I said oh I like that name dh agreed and so ds2 was named.

Well, everyone has to hear a name somewhere. I don't think naming him after a footballer is any worse than naming him after a child down the road, or someone you knew in school, or an actor or whatever, as long as it's not a ridiculous name.

One of my neighbours kids shares his name with D&Vs eldest and there is a local woman who was in the paper because her house wasn't big enough for her brood who has a son called christiano ronaldo something something.

I really wanted to call DD Eric had she turned out to be a boy. Msr Cantona is gorgeous. DH said absolutely not, although he did like Erica.
Luckily she isn't a boy, a girl called Eric would be too odd for words.
OP, I don't think that the name is odd enough to be worried about TBH.

Tinchy Stryder - gah! The poor kid. I hope he grows up and changes it to Bob, just to spite her.

UnquietDad · 12/01/2011 21:18

Just like Zowie Bowie calling himself Duncan Jones now.

Not that weird I don't think, tho surnames as first names is a bit naff. It surprises me that people don't blink at children being named after flowers/colours/gem stones/beer - I hear Stella's making a comeback Wink but naming after a living person is seen as strange.

I wouldn't do it but then I'm too bloody fickle!!
