to not want to be around Sister & Brother in Law's home whilst pregnant & when the baby's born (because they smoke quite heavily)?

Right, Sister & Brother in Law smoke quite heavily, Brother in Law smokes cannibis also, & have done all through Sister's 3 pregnancies and now round the 3 children in their home. So AIBU to not want to go round to their house whilst pregnant or even when the baby's born?

Confused

Not sure if I'm overreacting, I just know I don't want to be breathing it in & I'm sure my baby doesn't either? Has anyone else had this?

If I'm NBU, any tips on how to avoid going round but still seeing them away from cigarettes?? Confused

If you don't want to go then don't. Not sure why as an adult you feel you have to justify not visiting anyone, relative or not.
I wouldn't want to visit a house where illegal drugs are on the premises. I also feel sick in smoky houses so wouldn't stay long there. I'd happily tell this to people with an illegal drug habit, smoky house.
Travelling to visit people in their house isn't compulsary. You can see them somewhere neutral.

You're in denial, abouteve. Occasional picking up by a smoker is not going to harm an individual baby, but the clothing, breath, hair of a smoker has harmful residues - one of the reasons why co-sleeping is not safe if you are a smoker.

Also, people don't want their babies to smell!!

YANBU.

I used to smoke, gave up years ago, but still have the very occasional one with a drink (maybe twice a year!). So not 'anti smoking' per se.

However...it is totally wrong to expose others, particularly children and pregnant women, to it.

If they want to do it in their own homes, that is their choice, but you don't have to put up with it.

I would just be polite but straight with them. No point beating around the bush.

MsKLo, well done on giving up to have your DC, what a fantastic motivator! :)

5Foot5, maybe, it was incredibly strong though!

Thanks NannyState & well done on giving up too! I'm going to speak to my Sister about it and suggest meeting up for a nice meal or something? :)
