She is always telling him to be a "big boy" and get up at night to go to the toilet.

He is 3.

Tonight I have told her, yet again, that he doesn't know he's doing it in his sleep as it is to do with a hormone kicking in which sends the message to the brain etc. Her response was to look at me and shake her head in disbelief and say it was "very different in her day then" and then launch into her lecture on how she had her 3 dry at around 14 months! In the day and by 2ish at night! (I have had the discussion a million times about "dry" being different to "trained" but she just won't have it).

Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!

AIBU in wanting to screech at her to never mention the subject ever, ever again!!!!!!!????????

Dry and night and dry in the day are two very different things. At night is not under conscious control and can come much later than in the day

I used pull ups simply because it allowed my DD to pull them down herself to use the potty, she had tried to with nappies at night with varying results. She was very keen to use the potty independently and often would hang on until bedtime so she could go without parents hanging about - and still does.
But once she got the hang of potty training she was dry daytime very quickly and nighttime soon after - however, she got terribly upset if she had an accident, so really the pull ups worked as a safety net. I don't think it made me or her more lazy - they are a useful step for many parents and kids towards being dry.
