£1.35 per litre (diesel) up the road from me today.

deemented · 01/01/2011 17:36

£1.31 at Tesco near me. Bloody ridiculous. If my car ever gets fixed i don't know if i'll be able to afford to run it...

shoshe · 01/01/2011 17:53

We have been paying £1,31 for the last couple of weeks at Tesco (we are in North Dorset)

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 01/01/2011 19:56

Sad We are rural and can't get to work via bus,and even if we could, the prices are shocking. It cost me £8 to take the dds to the nearest town,a 12 mile round trip.

I only use the car for work now,the dds go to school on the bus,and we go shopping once a week, but it is still costing me £120 a month just to get to my jobs.If fuel keeps rising it won't be worth me going to work at all.

ihatethesnow · 01/01/2011 20:16

1.21 a ltre aroud here ...that will go up whe vat does...

welshbyrd · 01/01/2011 20:43

Fact in april, when duty etc goes on, diesel will be just over £1.50 litre, disgusting,
I hope for one, that lorries etc go on strike again, not sure it will have any outcome though

clutha · 01/01/2011 21:20

im wishing id opted for diesel bearing mind petrol isnt crawling up to high priced parity

with diesel you can add the veg oil and save loadsamoney

clutha · 01/01/2011 21:21

is even, not isnt

classydiva · 01/01/2011 21:24

If you an travel free by bus why lose your DLA to get a car? Seems pointless.

However you don't have tax and insurance to pay too. You get that with the car.

I've downgraded my car and chose an eco friendly model but it's still going to cost a fortune to run, just not as much as a fortune as the old one Hmm Mine is a motability one too, for my disabled dd, and I don't know what we'd do without it.

oldandknackered · 02/01/2011 12:15

I saw it at £1.41 just outside sunny Torquay yesterday Shock

clutha · 02/01/2011 12:18

roughly 70%

mamatomany · 02/01/2011 12:27

Fcuking hell do we get a photo of the one we've sponsored and a letter from him and her with a progress report every 6 months Angry
I am going to spend so little next year in protest. Nobody will care but i'll feel better for it.

Don't forget to use this. link

GabbyLoggon · 02/01/2011 14:32

yes, petrol prices caused blockades some years ago. Feeling must be getting strong again?

clutha · 02/01/2011 15:24

truckers and far workers get cheaper special red diesel than the rest of us.

hence, maybe, the lack of noises from them this time round?

id recommend all you diesel users mix it with veg oil, you will save quite a bit and be better off than us petrol users, anyway

Lizcat · 02/01/2011 15:43

Truckers can not use red diesel it is limited to farm vehicles that do not travel more than so many miles from farm and things like forklift trucks that stay home too.
DH's company runs three lorries and he is currently weeping quietly about the cost of diesel. Yes feeling is getting strong, but this time it will just get passed onto consumer.

clutha · 02/01/2011 15:48

thanks for that info liz.

has your husband considered using veg oil?

mamatomany · 02/01/2011 18:35

They are testing vans and bigger vehicles at a motorway junction close by for red diesel and the punishment is certainly more than you'd get for hurting a human being but then that's the priority isn't it catching anyone tax dodging, unless you are very rich.

CheekyLittleStocking · 02/01/2011 19:55

£1.24 here for petrol :(
