After eating non stop for two weeks ...

AnnOnimous · 01/01/2011 13:57

To put off re-starting the diet till next week.

I am still on holiday till Tuesday, the diet classes won't restart until the following Monday.

And I am in the mood to bake, probably a simple chocolate cake in a mug which takes five minutes in the microwave. I may follow this up with an apple traybake lol.

So, to be sensible and diet and exercise from today, or to be self indulgent. TBH I am still in bed, so the self indulgence looks like winning so far.

Yes wait till the diet classes start. I was going to start today but theres too much stuff left to eat up (mince pies and things). YANBU!

compo · 01/01/2011 14:00

If you've been eating non stop for two weeks aren't you sick of food? I know I am, I'm starting to crave celery and soup Grin
won't last long though I'm sure!

BooBooGlass · 01/01/2011 14:00

A diet won't work if you don't really want to do it. If you really wanted to lose the weight, you'd not delay tbh.

AnnOnimous · 01/01/2011 14:01

I know it is sensible to start today, but my heart is not in it.

I hate celery soup ha ha, but I do love carrot and coriander.

BooBooGlass · 01/01/2011 14:04

If your heart's not in it you are setting yourself up for failure. Give yourself a realistic aim. DO you want to be the same weight or even heavier this time next year? If the answer is no, then you need to stop seeing a diet as depriving yourself, which is why you are craving yucky microwave cakes and traybakes.

Gogopops · 01/01/2011 14:05

Chocolate cake in a mug in the microwave? Sounds rather strange. How do you make it?

Sod the diet.

biggirlsdontcry · 01/01/2011 14:08

I am Envy @ you still being in bed at this time of the day Grin

AnnOnimous · 01/01/2011 14:09

Yeah, I know I have answered my own question really.

I know once back at Scottish Slimmers I will get back on track again. Honest. Just being the first I CONSIDERED doing the right thing from today haha. My right thing will probably begin on Tuesday, once back at work and in a rhythm.

Chocolate cake in a mug is surprisingly delish and moreish.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons plain flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
a small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1 000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

You need the largest muyg you have as this will rise up. Or, use the same amount of mixture and put in two mugs, and share with a friend.

Big girl, I am very lucky. We were out at a party till 2 this morning. I slept in till 11.30.

DH brought me breakfast in bed, toast with mushrooms at the side, around 12.30. I have faffed about on mumsnet since ha ha.

My kids at 17 and 13, and have only just woken up. We had, as a family, pretty much planned a jammy day today, with the exception of walking the dog, so it is a lovely way to start 2011.

biggirlsdontcry · 01/01/2011 14:30

You lucky lucky lady Grin

Chandon · 01/01/2011 14:33

please do not eat that cake though!

mutznutz · 01/01/2011 14:36

I hate to sound preachy but if you have weight issues, why eat non stop for two weeks? I know you're going to start a diet soon but perhaps it's also good to change your attitude towards eating in general?

There's no other way of putting that...sorry if it sounds snotty, it's not meant to x

ByTheSea · 01/01/2011 14:36

I have decided to indulge myself for a few more days, til I go back to work Tuesday. Then, back to a sensible eating and exercise plan. I'd like to shift the extra weight put on in December by the end of the month, if possible.

AnnOnimous · 01/01/2011 14:49

Mutznutz, maybe you are taking it a wee bit too literally. I have not actually been eating non stop, it was just an expression.

However, having followed a strict diet on Scottish Slimmers, and lost a stone and a half, with just half a stone or so to go I decided that opting out of the diet, rather than half following it some days and not at all others, would be my treat to myself.

This means I have eaten party food and baked cakes for the first time in months. However, I will get back on to my stricter, sterner, healthier, eating plan again, honest.

My willpower is just not there yet.

I know that eating bigger portions, drinking wine on more nights of the week than I normally would, and eating sweeties, is not the best for me. However, it was a life choice.

That said, I have never had more than three units of alcohol at any point over the festive period, so I have not entirely lost my health/diety principles lol.

And I have eaten loads of veg - they just tended to be drizzled in goose fat or maple syrup, rather than plain :)

And I hope to get back out on my bike soon too, weather permitting.

I can completely sympathise. I lost 3 stone and put on another one....oops. Will start tomorrow after the lush roast I am about to prepare. I also have a box of chocs to get through. I the terry's chic orange I just ate may have put me off though..Hmm.

Get back to it when you really feel you want to go for it. I just bought a rather small maxi dress in the sales to make my 'target reward' iyswim and have bought all my soup veg in to make a good start! Good luck to everyone for diets!!

mutznutz · 01/01/2011 15:05

I'm no more 'concerned' at a stranger's eating habits than anyone else on this forum PMSL!!

Nah, all I was getting at is a lot of people tend to go on diets to shift weight...but they don't change their habits/attitude so it often leads to yo-you dieting.

Sounds like you're on top of it all OP so whatever floats your boat Grin x

mutznutz · 01/01/2011 15:07

"yo-you" dieting...obviously new for 2011 Lol Blush

FairhairedandFrustrated · 01/01/2011 16:34

Well done on your weight loss so far AnnOnimous, and I hope you haven't done too much damage to your hard work by over indulging for two weeks Grin

Did Scottish Slimmers close for Christmas?? At the very time when people need a club's support most? I never understodd that about Weight Watchers either :)

Slimming World open 52 weeks of the year, Christmas & New Year being no exception, as it's then when people need the help :)

I hope your over indulgence was worth it & you can get back into your stride in January :)

AnnOnimous · 01/01/2011 16:42

Scottish Slimmers takes two weeks off, and we lost a week to the weather too.

However, as our advisor told us, we really only need to indulge for one day.

HA HA HA HA HA!

HO HO HO HO HO!

I will get back, I am sure, but I have had a couple of bad weeks health wise too, and have been on steroids, then major pain relief, all in all,, losing weight has been the least of my concerns.

theevildead2 · 01/01/2011 16:44

YABU choc mug cake is shit. If youre going to go for the fat make a proper cake.

CalamityKate · 01/01/2011 16:46

I heard somewhere (I think it was on the radio) that on average, over the Christmas period, we eat something every 28 minutes. Even if it's a few Roses or a handful of Pringles. So it's hardly surprising that everyone lumbers and wobbles their way into January.

I lost nearly a stone before Christmas (to win a bet with DP) and I've put nearly half of it back on. I'm furious with myself and the diet starts as soon as the kids go back to school.

AnnOnimous · 01/01/2011 16:51

LOL the choc cake in the mug does not taste like normal sponge, that is true, more like a moist mousse cake, but it is yummy!

However, I didn't make it in the end.

OP posts:
FairhairedandFrustrated · 01/01/2011 18:13

What is the Scottish Slimmers plan like? (not that I can do it, being in NI and all) Grin

Having lost 4st Food Optimising with Slimming World, I find it depressing that so many plans rely on you to be strict and deny yourself so much - that can't last forever, so you (collective you, not you personally)cave in & binge.. I believe change of diet should be a change of lifestyle too :)

I gained 2lb over Christmas - am hoping I have at least half that off before my next weigh-in.

curlymama · 01/01/2011 18:16

I am SO trying that cake before my diet starts tomorrow!

It does sound particularly lardy though. Sorry. Grin
