Not been out on new year's since before DS (4) was born and I don't miss it at all. I can go to bed when I want and not stay up just for the clock to strike midnight.

I agree! I love staying inSmile. I think we should have celebrated the Australian New Year, 12 hours before our own. Then we wouldn't have to stay up.

Happy New Year!

mutznutz · 31/12/2010 18:45

I love staying in too but always stay up til midnight! Smile

We let the kids stay up too and at the stroke of 12, all the neighbours run into the street banging pots and pans Lol...just like the old days. Also, there's lots of fireworks for them to see.

I have never been out to town on NYE and have no desire to. I used to go to a friends house party when I was younger but now I have no desire to go anywhere other than bed.

I have wine, I have chocolates perfect :) (other than the noise from next door!)

I too stay in but I always have a feeling that everyone else is out having a marvelous time and I am not.....I hate NYE for that feeling....

NewYearNewPants · 31/12/2010 19:07

Me too! I was a party animal pre-babies, but still hated NYE. Over-hyped, over-priced, pressurised nonsense.

Love the fact that I am already in PJs Grin

I definitely have a pang of sadness for not going out. I'm Scottish and used to really enjoy New Year up there - very friendly (maybe it's different now)

since I've lived in England I have had terrible New Years - I've been in pubs full of fights (pubs which were lovely and normally quiet). There has been masses of fights in the street and a lot of crime.

The only good New Year I've had in England was the Millenium when I went into London and watched the fireworks - that was a wonderful night.

So my last GOOD New Year was now 10 years ago Xmas SadXmas Hmm

ChoudeBruxelles · 31/12/2010 19:15

Going to Edinburgh once was one of only two NYEs that have been really good. The other was in Paris. i think both were good because i had loads of friends there and really can't remember anything because I drank so bloody much, starting very early.

SugarMousePink - glad it's not just me, they really are better up there.

My friend used to climb Arthurs seat and watch the sun come up New Years Day - loads do that and it's supposed to be pretty special but I've never had the pleasure.

I do remember there being no-where to go for a pee on Princes Street. I was there a long time ago before they started limiting numbers. It was better up there - very friendly.

Did a couple of new years in george square(again before it became ticketed and too popular). Saw bjorn again and then danced like a daftie. They were only good ny I have had(all others was either too pissed/getting dumped or falling out with mates).Ny makes me Sad thinking of people no longer with us.

YANBU.

NYE is the worst night of the year to go out on. One memorable Hmm one saw me walking through Brixton in the snow barefoot because my new shoes had lacerated my feet and there were no cabs to be had. I wasn't even insulated because the crowd at the bar / club I had been at was impenetrable.

There is no six-deep crush between me and the wine in my kitchen and I am toasty and comfortable. Perfect Smile

Weirdly the best NYE out I have ever had was when I was pregnant with DD. Maybe it was because I didn't care where my next diet coke was coming from and the novelty of watching everyone else making arses of themselves for a change.

mrstimlovejoy · 31/12/2010 20:03

pj's on
baileys
rather large cheese board
nowhere i'd rather be oh other than in maui like i was for ny 2003.
happy new year Smile

orangepoo · 31/12/2010 20:05

Me and DH went to the millenium celebrations in London for 2000. They were crap, transport was crap and the whole evening was so terrible that we have NEVER been out on NYE since.

FudgeGirl · 31/12/2010 20:17

I wish I was going out! :(

We're supposed to be staying at parents' but DP didn't sleep last night for coughing and couldn't face the four hour journey.

Add to that family arguments that I don't think will be ever sorted out (not me, my DM and DB) I'm really depressed.

So I'm going to get sloshed. Like I have done nearly every other night this week. Hohum.

DuffyMoon · 31/12/2010 20:40

DH is now asleep Xmas Hmm its wild here...par-tay...woo hoo.....
