Kate
Adrienne
Gabrielle (or Gabriella)

I love Kate, but it was my Great Grandmothers name and always on my list (I have 2 DSs) She was born pre 1900 and her name was Kate, not Catherine which seems unusual back then.

In my class at secondary school of 24 in 1993 though we had a Kathryn, Katherine, Catherine and a Kate. So was popular back then.

Dont like the other names.

ItsKurriiiistmas · 28/12/2010 21:17

I have my own reasons for thinking Kate is an excellent name Grin

I don't think it will be any more popular with the royal connection - it's always been popular (because it's an excellent name). It's not dated, it's classic.

I'm not mad about the other two names - they are a bit fancy for my taste - but that's just me, each to their own and if that's the name you love for your baby, go for it.

Bogeyface · 28/12/2010 21:19

no - V dull and there will be people who assume you are inspired by the princess in waiting
no - "Oops we wanted a boy"
no - Reminds me of the sickly sweet heroine in High School Musical which I have seen a million times!

BarbieLovesKen · 28/12/2010 21:19

Thanks a million all.

Im not in the UK so assume that the Kate and princess association wont be made?? - I am a little worried about popularity though in general but this one is dh's favourite. I dont like Katherine/ Catherine or any other name that (as far as I can think of!) Kate could be a nickname of.

Dont mind Gabby/ Gabi at all as a nickname but am suprised at how many (in RL and on here) think this a huge negative so slightly puts me off.

Have never seen Rocky...

Adrian...... lol! Didn't that have some sort of connection with 'Rosemary's Baby'?

Gabi or Gabrielle/a is lovely, very pretty.

Adrienne, I don't like at all.

Kate, nice but boring and too common.

FessaEst · 28/12/2010 21:26

Love Kate.

Really don't like the other 2, a bit harsh sounding and potential for mispronunciation.

FellatioNelson · 28/12/2010 21:28

I think Adrienne is really pretty and unusual and no-one her age will know about the Rocky thing anyway. Kate but boring. Not over-keen on Gabrielle.

MsKLo · 28/12/2010 21:28

adreinne reminds me of talia shire in rocky (!)

but the thing is, if you like these names, that is all that matters!

BarbieLovesKen · 28/12/2010 21:30

Ooh yes, I think I like Adrienna a little better than Adrienne.

Kate appears to be favoured most here, I think?

PhishFoodAddiction · 28/12/2010 21:39

I prefer Kate out of all those names.

Really dislike Adrienne, sorry. Don't know why but it's making me think of Adrian Mole!

When I helped out in school we had a Gabriella and she was lovely, I do like the name, though not keen on it shortened to Gabby.

FabbyChic · 28/12/2010 21:40

I like them all.

goplayout · 28/12/2010 21:41

Sorry, don't like any of them.

Kate makes me think of Wills and Kate.

Gabrielle/a is okay, but Gaby is horrid and her friends WILL all call her that.

Adrienne -girl at school was always called Adrian by the mean kids.

Do you like Ariana?

Or Ariella?

I like all of them, but would probably have Kate only as a nn for Katherine.

cupcakebakerer · 28/12/2010 22:11

Kate nice and classic but a bit blah - also the Kate and Wills thing to consider. No to the other two. Just my opinion though - and you did say be blunt! It wouldn't do for us all to have the same taste.

cece · 28/12/2010 22:14

Kate - is lovely
Adrienne - don't like it, to much like Adrian
Gabrielle - OK but not overly keen on it. Really dislike nn of Gabby.

MyMamaToldMe · 28/12/2010 22:16

Kate is so boring. An ever popular name - in fact I work with 4!!! Love the other 2/3 name choices, although if I had to pick it would be Gabriella.

FaffTastic · 28/12/2010 22:18

Don't like any of them, Sorry. If I HAD to choose one of them it would be Gabriella.

TechnoKitten · 28/12/2010 22:20

Kate - love it, but be careful if you use it as a short for "Catherine" (have a friend who has both names and had trouble with official stuff having different initials - like airline tickets booked as "K Whoever" and her passport being "C Whoever")

Adrienne - don't like at all, but then I had an ex called Adrian.

Gabrielle - OK, though I wouldn't use it myself. Agree with the dislike of Gabby.

TechnoKitten · 28/12/2010 22:21

Oooh, goplayout I like Ariana :)

Lovecat · 28/12/2010 22:23

Kate is lovely - DD is a Caitlin, known as Cait :)

Adrienne is bloody hideous, sorry

Gabriella is lovely but Gabby's a bit awful.

upahill · 28/12/2010 22:25

I don't like the first one

My best mate has the second as is known by the name adi. I like either.
My niece is called Gabriella - known as Gaby, I like that as well.

upahill · 28/12/2010 22:27
