To think I deserve more than just delivery charge refunded (warning: rant)

just got my Tesco delivery and ALL my meat for Christmas and boxing day 'was unavailable', as well as my short crust pastry, chicken liver for pate, and my toffee pudding.
I placed the order a week ago and even checked it last night on line. the meat and pudding said next to them that I could not change the quantity of them in my order as those items had been reserved for me so AIBU to think that they actually would?
when I called to complain was told its what's on the shelf on the day. so what's the freakin point of pre ordering?
now I have to go out with my 3mo dd, and me with mastitis, on Christmas eve to try and get something when I was going to be spending that time doing prep. and that's if I can even find anything in the shops, we'll probably wind up with a boring old chicken.
I'm raging!!!!!!!

At least you got the rst of your order, they cancelled ours by text and told us to re-book when the weather had improved (however as I pointed out there were no other slots free before xmas to rebook) so had to trek out with a 3mth old and a chest infection and do our entire food shop, would have been quite happy if it was only a few items missing tbh!

mozette · 23/12/2010 22:00

I got my tesco order delivered tonight and the only things not delivered were the fecking crackers, the fecking mince pies and the fecking beef for Christmas dinner!

I checked last night and there was an extra wee line on the mince pies saying that I couldn't change the quantity as this item had been pre-ordered for me - how come they weren't bleeding delivered then??

hatesponge · 23/12/2010 22:03

OP, I really sympathise. Shopping with a small baby and no car is hard work, especially when you were expecting to have cut out that hard work by ordering online.

I couldnt get a slot for any time this week, so will be doing several trips to the supermarket tomorrow (no car here either).

Hope you get your Xmas meat without having to trek round all the local supermarkets....come to that hope that i do as well! :)

Well I am feeling relatively blessed in comparison to the OP but still livid that the ham I ordered has not been delivered by Ocado, nor the sausage rolls.

The ham is the sum of my contribution to Christmas lunch at my mum's. Order big bake and glaze one, enough for 8 adults. Have been sent a piddling little one that would barely feed three.

GRRRRRRRR.

So off I go to shops first thing.

Normally ocado very good though.

sleighBELLasringing · 23/12/2010 22:09

Hope you get sorted tomorrow OP.

jeanhill · 23/12/2010 22:39

If you pre order with a few days notice I feel these companies should offer an alternative if they do not have it in stock, but they should make sure they order your stuff in

They charge you extra for a rubbish service

chillichill · 23/12/2010 23:48

so I'm not the only one being f'ed around then?
WEIRDBIRD- I feel your pain, I have 3mo old and mastitis and will be treking out tomorrow.
MOZETTE- wrote them an email asking for an explanation about the reserved for my order bit. got automated reply back saying they have s high volume of email (complaints?) and will get back to me asap do we shall see.

IME the meat from Tesco is rubbish anyway!

mamatomany · 24/12/2010 00:11

Debenhams couldn't get me three presents to the value of £20 so they have refunded the whole order of £63.00, now that's what i call customer service and I shall go out of my way to shop there in the future.
And it was free delivery in the first place.

titan · 24/12/2010 00:17

I also totally sympathise. I'm always so annoyed when Ocado miss out the key item (like the meat) without substituting it. But then choose to substitute gold christmas gift tags with stripey birthday wrapping paper. Have to admit - am totally disillusioned with internet shopping as dh's present from Amazon hasn't arrived despite being ordered on 9th Dec. Dreading frantic dash round shops for replacement tomorrow!

BiscuitNibbler · 24/12/2010 00:22

Tesco did this to me several years ago, and since then I have never trusted them at Christmas. I've just got back from the supermarket getting the last few fresh bits and it was heaving. Probably full of people getting the stuff missed off their online delivery!

cantgetlaidingermany · 24/12/2010 13:43

I have more trouble with asda than tesco....
morrisons was not bad last night
