Yorkshires are for beef! Why does every menu include them?

yabu- Yorkshire are yummy with any meal!

LowLevelBahHumbug · 23/12/2010 16:35

Sounds good to me. Would improve a shit roast dinner.

tabulahrasa · 23/12/2010 16:35

Hmm cos they're nice

(pretends she didn't buy some to have on Saturday)

MigGril · 23/12/2010 16:35

YABU sorry we always had yorkshires with any roast dinner, without them it's just not a roast.

faverolles · 23/12/2010 16:37

We would have Yorkshire puds, but can't fit anything else in the oven Xmas Sad
It's a similar argument as to whether baked beans have a place in an English breakfast.
Each to their own Xmas Smile

christmascakequeen · 23/12/2010 16:38

YABU yorkshires are the best bit

DingDongMaryBSonHigh · 23/12/2010 16:41

We will have some on Christmas Day, so YABU :)

(they're also really tasty when they're cold, with jam on! Xmas Grin)

jazzchickens · 23/12/2010 16:42

YABU Its called fusion cookery Xmas Grin

Lovecat · 23/12/2010 16:42

Bribery with yorkshires is the only way DD will eat vegetables. So YABU, but I see what you mean...:)

nickeldonkeybethlehemsinsight · 23/12/2010 16:42

no, YABU yorkshires go with everything.

and when you've finished dinner, you have them with jam for pudding.

JemimaMop · 23/12/2010 16:44

YANBU.

Yorkshire puddings go with roast beef, or alternatively giant ones are nice filled with mince and gravy. Or of course Toad in the hole.

But with turkey? Just plain wrong IMO.

My Grandma used to serve them for pudding with raspberry vinegar Hmm

create · 23/12/2010 16:45

DingDong and nickel - I'll give you that, but I have Golden Syrup Smile

I did have Yorkshire GPs, so maybe I have strange prejudices, but I'm not budging.

Besides, where do they go in an oven already full with Turkey, roast potatoes and parsnips?

Lol, lol, lol @ "fusion cookery" Xmas Grin

Yorkshires belong with beef or sausages.

Jem, we used to have them with golden syrup.

mousesma · 23/12/2010 16:47

It's not a roast dinner wirhout yorkies IMO

curlymama · 23/12/2010 16:47

Eww - yorkshires with jam!?

We are having them for Christmas dinner, but I thought we were the oddball minority.

snice · 23/12/2010 16:47

we used to have the leftover ones buttered with sugar sprinkled over for pudding

MrsChemistrySetInMyStocking · 23/12/2010 16:48

YABU. Yorkshires go on all roasts here. It doesn't feel like a roast otherwise.

yorkshirepudding · 23/12/2010 16:48

why are my ears burning?

nannynobblystockingnobs · 23/12/2010 16:48

We have them on Christmas day and you have just reminded me I need to buy some. I am a good cook so why can't I make them for shit?!

HughRinal · 23/12/2010 16:48

YABU I am a yorkshire tyke, we have them with everything, inc golden syrup
The correct way to eat them is before the meat course - this way you are a bit full and eat less meat when you're on you're uppers

Kirk1 · 23/12/2010 16:49

Yorkshires go with everything. My Auntie always makes Yorkshires, roasted Parsnips, has red wine and Apple sauce - whatever meat there is :)

Iwasthefourthwiseman · 23/12/2010 16:49

YABU, they are yummy with any roast.

HughRinal · 23/12/2010 16:50

oops your uppers

FabbyChic · 23/12/2010 16:50

I have Yorkshire Puddings with all my roast dinners. My mother used to too 30 years ago.

yorkshirepudding · 23/12/2010 16:50

we are very versatile
