..grand designs bingo!

'character'
'planning'
'commitment'
'over budget'
'tight time scale'
'is it worth it?'

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 14/12/2010 13:50

Provenance of food always makes me think of Charles Dickens. As though your sausage has been left as a foundling at Dotheboyshall or something.

'foraging' is started to get on my tit.

Fleecy · 14/12/2010 17:26

It's okay everything

As an equally wanky sort, I still love you Grin

I know it's awful. But it's fun! DH always laughs at the use of singular for plural.

Am not a fan of 'slick' or 'product' though.

Megatron · 14/12/2010 17:31

YANBU. I'm not a fan of 'it's a lovely shoe' either.

Fleecy · 14/12/2010 17:33

But it might be a lovely shoe. That's still true even if the other shoe is equally beautiful Grin

BendyBobCratchit · 14/12/2010 17:45

OMG ALL of these. This thread is vitual silver paper on my fillings.

I also haaaate 'fashionista'. It sounds like a description of some sort of high priestess of handbags. No! Stop it at once!

On a non fashion note, can I add the increasingly popular 'It/he/she are like Marmite - you either love it or hate it'. It's not funny anymore, if it ever was.

Megatron · 14/12/2010 17:49

No no no Fleecy! It's a lovely pair of shoes! My mum used to say the bakers down the road did 'a lovely fruit scone'. Just the one obviously. Grin

Fleecy · 14/12/2010 18:40

Shamefully, I do secretly agree, I just persist in my ridiculous poncy ways...

I blame magazine brainwashing!

DH doesn't bother to keep the sniggering secret. Can't say I blame him but never mind. I only do it to him, a couple of equally daft fashionista friends (see what I did there?) and on the Style & Beauty boards. It makes me feel at home Grin

Speaking of Marmite, I work in advertising and everyone always says 'Nothing clever, we want a Ronseal approach'. I'm fed up of that being my brief. It's not funny.

MarshaBrady · 14/12/2010 19:13

lolol Fleecy.

That is hilarious.

Do they also say, we want a name that everyone uses instead, like we want to be the HOOVER of vacuum cleaners.....

Fleecy · 14/12/2010 19:25

yy marsha I have also heard that. These things usually come from people who have ideas of world domination but invariably chicken out and water the idea down so far that it never stands out. Ho hum!

I have just remembered a fashion term I hate (I knew there had to be one) - chiconomics.

Used to refer to something ludicrously overpriced and yes, it may be lovely but £3,000 is still a lot of money, even if you'll wear it for 10 years!

glastocat · 14/12/2010 21:26

YES! These are all vile Mind you , fashioon bores me shitless. Why do all the papers and magazines persist in showing supid jumpers and frocks that cost hundreds and hundreds of pounds? Who buys it, honestly? Everyone I know shops on the high street, or charity shops. Confused

domesticslattern · 15/12/2010 00:01

No eatingangel, it wasn't her but good to guess! Smile The fact that there are two separate people in Brighton who would spout that shit is worrying though!

Many ladies in magazines apparently "pour themselves into" the on-trend pieces they have carefully sourced and teamed.

Just makes me feel really really poorly, that does. Expect to see the liquid fat seeping through the fun prints.

EatingAngelPie · 15/12/2010 17:34

domestic i think there are many people in Brighton who love Fashion enough to jargonise it to bits.

scoobytoo · 15/12/2010 20:07

or the 'feature wall' grrr....what is it wall shaped like a nose?

Notevenamouse · 15/12/2010 20:14

"that top would go nicely with a nice lemon trouser " Hmm

MrsGuyOfChristmasBorn · 15/12/2010 20:21

'A trouser' - aaaaagh. 'Piece' aaaagh. There is a pretentious cow fashion person who is on Frank Skinner's otherwise fab programme on Absolute Radio and drives me nuts with that type of stuff.
