To show my 11 year old Ds pictures of inflammed penises from a medical site....

Well Aibu?

Did the laundry this weekend including ds's basket from his room and when sorting the dry stuff I noticed that there was no boxers and only 1 pair of his socks!

On a previous occasion this had happened and he promised to wear clean ones each day but it would seem this week he had been 'forgetting' to put clean ones on, even after a bath or shower!!!

I reiterated the importance of clean clothes and he does wear a clean shirt each day but it would seem he forgets to put on clean boxers, socks and vest! Yuk yuk yuk!! This amazes me as he is do fastidious over his appearance, he spends ages doing his hair and ensuring his uniform looks just right!!

Anyway I decided to go for the shock tactics and showed him some pictures on my iPhone from a few medical sites of inflamed and infected penises and told him that if he didn't change daily his 'willy' would end up like that and be really sore! I should have waited until he finished his roll I know but... Aibu to have done this?

Maybe he is having a lot of wet dreams and rinsing them himself. Less embarrassing to admit to not changing undies than fessing up to making a mess of himself

No, he has wet himself a couple of months ago and told me about it, I am pretty damn sure he'd tell me if he needed them washed...

"Is not wearing pants in bed a male thing?"

Don't think there's a gender divide, more likely to be how you were brought up.

When we were little we never had underwear on under pyjamas. It wasn't until I went to university that I realised other people did. The thought of having underwear on 24/7 seems really strange to me, I like my bits to breathe Grin

I don't wear pyjamas now, but I don't think we had a fresh pair on every day when I was a child.

dementedma · 13/12/2010 20:35

wearing or not wearing pants in bed is an intersting one. DDs did if wearing nighties but not under pj's - don't know the logic in that, maybe a flashing thing if we had visitors??Smile
I always wears pjs with no knickers, unless during period.
Dh sleeps in boxers and t-shirt

Just a quick update.... We have had clean boxers everyday this week so far! Fingers crossed he keeps it up!

Good news!

YANBU!

My DP got ringworm last year (fungal infection) in a tiny patch on his inner thigh because he hadn't washed the lycra undershorts he wears under his rugby kit for a couple of weeks.

What shocked me was that the GP said it was incredibly common in sports-playing men because they didn't wash their kit and that when he told his team-mates, it transpired that practically none of them EVER washed their lycra support stuff, which is worn right next to the skin!

They're all aged between 20-40 and had no idea why it was important to keep their kit clean.

How did I miss this? Fantastic, will try to find some rancid fanny pictures for our soap dodging DD. She has to be peeled out of her favourite dotty knickers and her latest pajamas are the best in the world. To prove this, I have to wash and have them dried before she goes to bed.

StuckinTheMiddlewithYou · 17/12/2010 12:09

My DP says: If your really bothered about this, tell him that nobody will want to lick his willy if it's full of cheese. Sorted.

deaddei · 17/12/2010 12:10

YANBU.
I may do the same for yr 7 ds whose underpants are currently decorating every surface in his room.

theevildead2 · 17/12/2010 12:12

NO more cheese wily comments I can't take it.

I don't think not wearing pants to bed is a male thing though.. I was always under the impression it was healthier to go commando for girls at night.

Cyclebump · 17/12/2010 12:27

I've always been told (including by health bods on the medical mag I work on) that women should not wear pants at night and that loose-fitting gear (such as pyjama bottoms) reduces the risk of thrush etc.

But I sleep naked a lot. Maybe I'm weird...

Puke at gratuitous cheese willy talk
