I found that site then got curious, I delved into the scary world of tickers and found that you can create a ticker for trying to conceive which maps out your menstrual cycle and comes complete with a little picture of rabbits getting it on...

I completely agree that we do not need those eyebleed inducing things here.

I like avatars, just not on here. You can absolutely guarantee havoc would be caused by having them. Especially with how often MN gets invaded by trolls. Can you imagine the fun they'd have picking offensive pictures as avatars?

More to the point, can you imagine the avatars some of the regulars would pick...

Nooooooo, the absence of avatars is one of the reasons I have stayed with MN for over 6 years.

There are plenty of forums you can join if you like/need/want that kind of thing.

The moment they put avatars and tickers and fucking thank you buttons on this site I will get myself up to London with a placard and shriek outside MNHQ's door.

This is the only site I use, I couldn't bear to use any others with all that twinkly shite.

Mind you I don't think they will change it. It all kicked off big style a couple of years ago when the text changed to purple.

ROFL at that site Labybird! I created a fictional ticker for Bill and Joanna who have been fuckbuddies since 1939 using the 'how long have we been friends' option! I'm actually disappointed I can't share it here, I'm very proud of my work!

I would like avatars mainly because there are about six or seven posters on here who merge into one. I use another Invision forum that is set out the same as MN and it uses avatars yet is still neat and ticker-free.

Please don't get Avatars. The lack of them is what makes this and other fripperies is why I love Mumsnet.
