If you have a black/neon pink Christmas tree, I will judge you. Can't help it.

I agree with mickeyjohn...mine is green with white lights & red and cream scandanavian style old fashioned decorations.
NO tinsel or non-christmassy coloured baubles - I just don't understand purple, royal blue or teal themed trees - they look awful IMO

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 09/12/2010 18:03

surely christmas is a bit kitsch per se, so there is no such thing, or indeed no point in, a "tasteful" tree

wewishyouamerrylissiemas · 09/12/2010 18:05

we have a real tree this year, we did put up the fake (green) one, it was quite coordinated with a lovely new silver star on top...

then we got the real one (sulking does work) and it looked wrong all tasteful so now weve got our homemade deccies on there too and my nans old angel has reclaimed her rightfu;l place.

wewishyouamerrylissiemas · 09/12/2010 18:06

but i have retained the red and silver colour scheme (where possible)

chipmonkey · 09/12/2010 18:52

A black tree needs orange and purple lights. And bats and skeleton heads. And to be put up at Halloween.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 09/12/2010 18:57

My tree is indeed green MsFox. I am a traditinalist and truely believe Christmas tree's should be naffXmas Grin

If it were possible to still get those flower shaped multi-coloured lights that adorned my parents tree as a child, they would be on my tree now.

My mum, on the other hand has gone all 'modern' (in her opinion) and ditched the tinsel in favour of all gold decs and white lightsXmas Hmm

MsFox · 09/12/2010 19:06

Well then, doyouthinktheysaurus, ye shall not be judged Grin

Well I think you are all feeble, I have 4 trees, all green, no tinsel.

CuppaTeaJanice · 09/12/2010 19:44

Ooh, chipmonkey, I'm now getting very excited at the prospect of getting the tree out for Halloween as well. Any excuse for sparkly stuff in the house!!!

Do you think I could get away with putting it up mid October and just leaving it there until the beginning of January? Xmas Hmm

ShoppingDays · 09/12/2010 20:21

I'll judge you if you have a green one Grin

chipmonkey · 10/12/2010 23:12

Oh yes, Cuppa! Decorate at Halloween as I suggested, then in November add different coloured lights, lose the bats and add the baubles! done!Grin

tethersjinglebellend · 10/12/2010 23:18

Right, judge me please:

Tree = 6' Cream with gold flecks in it
Baubles = Brown, orange and light green. Shiny.
Lights = no fuss, normal white fairy lights
Assorted crap = gold trumpets, mini stockings, chocolate, toy cars (DD's contribution)
Atop = Action man in a Sindy wedding dress

What's my favourite sandwich filling?

Glitterknickaz · 10/12/2010 23:22

Tree is definitely green.
Bedecked in black, purple and silver baubles & decor.

A nod to my inner Goth.

zonkin · 10/12/2010 23:27

I used to have tastefully decorated trees. But the DC go mad over bold tinsel, too many baubles and gaudy lights. So I caved in for them and after a couple of years I find myself judging tasteful trees as dull and boring.....

Yes our tree looks tacky and loud but the kids love it and therefore so do I.

cupcakebakerer · 10/12/2010 23:42

I judge on Christmas trees too - a real tree is the only way to go! Saying that was brougt up with a falsey and Christmases were no less magical.

Timeforanap · 10/12/2010 23:54

Definitely a real tree for me, we've only ever missed one year. Doyouthinktheysawus Oooh, I would so love to have some of those delicate flower shaped multicoloured fairy lights! They were beeeyoootiful! Xmas Smile

Shodan · 11/12/2010 00:15

Ha.

I have one green fake, with red and gold traditional style decorations- but static multi-coloured lights.

And one real tree, with white/silver/pale blue decs, plus a moderate amount of lametta, carefully rationed and hung, and white lights.

Also, one silver tree with mutli-coloured lights and decorations.

And finally, one multi-coloured tree with multi-coloured beads but no lights. But it's not a very big tree and all my strands of lights are too long.

Work that lot out, ye judgesters. Xmas Grin

saintknickerless · 11/12/2010 01:00

I have a giant cardboard Christmas tree which will shortly be decorated with metalic paint, glitter, tissue paper, cut-outs of Peppa Pig and home-made decorations courtesy of my 3-year-old DD. Judge Away.

madhattershouse · 11/12/2010 01:05

I have a black tree...Oh is colour blind to green (looks grey) so colour changing black tre it is! Add to that, the as an almost goth black is my "thing"..I say almost as the costof velvet and lace is horrific...black clothes from matalan... You get the picture Grin
