Does she actually sing the words "so fricking bad?" Because I would not be amused.

Hmm, my 10 year old sang this till I pointed out it's not nice to hear a kid saying this - she had no idea, so fair enough, but she knows now not to repeat it round me or anyone else.

mrsmindcontrol · 06/12/2010 20:25

YABU

hellview96 · 06/12/2010 20:34

Ew my SD sung it and I told her that I do not want any child to repeat it, it sounds foul.

upahill · 06/12/2010 20:36

Yabu because it is a crap song!!!!

Muumimama · 06/12/2010 20:54

Confused OP, really not appropriate. I know she's singing it as a child and with childish innocence (such as 'pea pair') but not OK! When I was a kid, Right Said Fred had 'I'm Too Sexy' in the charts and my mum - very lovely and laid-back - gave me hell for singing along, even though I didn't know the real words. She sort of wanted to giggle just because I was singing words I didn't know, but ultimately knew it was totally inappropriate so I got told not to sing it.

Horton · 06/12/2010 21:10

I would not be amused, either. My daughter is just over four and would be given very short shrift if she dared to say 'damn' or 'bloody' never mind 'fricking'. I know they don't understand it but you're doing them no favours if you accept it as normal, IMO. Sorry, v po-faced.

RCToday · 06/12/2010 21:17

LOL thats funny Grin

It wouldnt bother me at all, I cant see any life long damage being caused by singing fricking

carriedafirework · 06/12/2010 21:19

well i don't let her sing along to Tinie Tempah Frisky!
shes had thaton the ipod before, and i heard her singing along or tryingto so i deleted it

Is 'blooming' allowed? It is just that DD has started saying it after watching Raymond Briggs' Father Christmas DVD and I'd like to know what is on the acceptable MN list of words.

I'm still weighing up whether I would prefer DD to sing 'fricking' or Justin Beiber. It is a close call.

gemmummy · 06/12/2010 21:21

no op yanbu. all the po faced people on here that are being a bit miserable ABU. Kids like to sing and they copy. And it's cool.

Georgimama · 06/12/2010 21:22

DS does a very deliberate impression of Father Christmas "another blooming Christmas". I just think "fricking" is a bit much. Would you want your child to blurt this out at nursery, or at grandparents house? No. Not nice.

Are you on drugs?

mummytopebs · 06/12/2010 21:26

At least shes not singing come on rude boy, boy gotta get it up, come on rude boy boy gotta give it up, take it take it - Which is what my 5 year old keeps singing all the time!!!!

TBH I havent told her off for it, she is just copying the song and doesnt know what she is saying, if i pull her up on it she will ask why shes not along to sing it.

Op i would just let her sing it, it wont be in the charts long then another song will take her fancy, well thats my hope for dd

TheBountyMuncher · 06/12/2010 21:29

Ha Bingtata I'd have thought 'Bloomin' was fine- if not Father Christmas himself will be getting a bag of coal.
DS loves that DVD, he quite often says, when I give him his dinner " What? No chips mate?!" Grin

Frickin is not a bad word imo, no worse than 'ruddy', or 'bleddy'- though I wouldn't want DS to use them
What am I on about though?! DS went through a phase of saying words that'd make his squaddie dad blush. (Frickin glad that's over Wink)

wigglesrock · 06/12/2010 21:34

DD2 (3) constantly sings "Hot 'n' Cold" Katy Perry, I assumed it was the radio edit until I heard "you PMS like a bitch I once knew" Blush Although I remember my sister singing "Like a Virgin" constantly without realising what it meant!!

carriedafirework · 06/12/2010 21:39

perhaps i should get her to change it to fecking lol lol

YANBU, DS is now 6yo and sings constantly. I have got around him singing songs that may not be appropriate, eg chart songs, by teling him radio songs are for the car and home, and school songs ie the ones he learns there are for singing if he feels the urge to wardle at school.

So far no mishaps...... that I know of!

Georgimama · 06/12/2010 21:42

Oh yes that would be hilarious Hmm
