I don't think it liked the dots either side - you needed spaces!

You are supposed to heat up the belly cubes BTW!

Ryoko · 06/12/2010 12:55

Whats wrong with it? not had it myself but it's spost to be a lovely cut of meat, really tender due to the fat content with a great taste.

I might by some, I haven't got the food in yet.

LoudRowdyDuck · 06/12/2010 13:04

Oops. DH and I had our guests eat pork belly at our wedding. Now dry I assume most of them hated it?

Ah well - we thought it was yummy! Grin

JenaiMarrsTartanFoxCube · 06/12/2010 13:04

They sound amazing.

I want some.

Have been thrilled this year to see huge bags of scratchings for sale at various outdoor events. Splendid Xmas Grin

  • do, even. keyboard is fucked.
woolymindy · 06/12/2010 13:12

I have to be honest, it is everything I can do to not go and buy them, they sound right up my street!

That said, I like scampi fries, pork scratchings, pilchards, kippers and all things which are a bit socially unacceptable foodwise - Poor DH he particulalry hates the kippers!

FellatioNelson · 06/12/2010 13:48

Jux - it is just a slab of pork belly pre-cooked and cut up into cubes so they can be blasted in a hot over to crisp up the skin, and served as bite-size canapes.

mrsmillsfanclub · 06/12/2010 14:17

All those party foods look pretty revolting. Plus I have the same theory about party 'nibbles' as I do about peanuts in a dish at a buffet-how many individuals have been to the loo then come back without washing their hands and have a route about whilst deciding what to choose {vom}

RandyRussian · 06/12/2010 14:46

What's wrong with the good old pineapple chunk and cube of cheese on a stick?

Jumpty · 06/12/2010 14:55

Most people saying yuk don't seem to have eaten it and the people saying yum have eaten it. Does that tell you something? I don't think you're supposed to eat it cold though, aren't they heated up? It's the same cut of meat that makes streaky bacon. Totally delicious.

BadPoet · 06/12/2010 14:59

Definitely not cold, we had them hot, and they were all snaffled within minutes.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 06/12/2010 15:46

MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm, pork faatttttttt, tis like a hot scratching Xmas Grin

panettoinydog · 06/12/2010 16:50

You patronising beggars. I know what pork belly is, I have cooked it, eaten it, fucked it and I like it.

I just wouldn't want it on a stick as party food. That is dissing the belly.

lilyliz · 06/12/2010 16:57

pork belly is great cooked right but must admit in the ad these squares look horrible,so do the sandwich cakes.Give me a plate of party sausage rolls anytime.

megonthemoon · 06/12/2010 17:03

I had roast pork belly for dinner last night. From a pig that I butchered myself :o

I have a pig cheek in the freezer too Shock Grin

FellatioNelson · 06/12/2010 17:45

Did you kill it? Or just butcher it afterwards? Fascinated now.

megonthemoon · 06/12/2010 17:52

Butchered only - was unusual if very exciting Christmas present from DH last year! Had a whole half pig, taught how to butchered everything, made sausages and bacon etc. Has kept us going for 8 months!

Ryoko · 06/12/2010 17:53

Whats wrong with kippers? I love kippers and peppered mackerel and slid and scampi is the food of the gods, squid is the god of food, I love squid.

FellatioNelson · 06/12/2010 18:01

Did you have the head? And trotters? Not sure I could deal with the head. Pigs always look quite happy I find, and it might be hard, having his little happy but dead head looking at you from your butcher's block.

megonthemoon · 06/12/2010 18:11

I completely agree about pigs - I love them - so the head was hard for me too. But I'm of the opinion that if you are going to kill animals for meat then you should eat as much as possible rather than it going to waste. I kept the cheek (still in freezer - not sure what to do with it) but gave the rest of the head to one of the other ladies along with the trotters as she was particularly keen on having them. It was great - brilliant to see how all the bits of a pig can be used. And extra special eating a roast loin or sausages knowing I had a part in making them!

But the best bits was all the lovely pork belly :)

FellatioNelson · 06/12/2010 18:13

I agree too. I would never be veggie, but as I get older I get quite po-faced about wasting or not appreciating meat, and all its by-products when an animal has died to feed us. It shouldn't be taken for granted.
